A man has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after a woman and her two young children plunged from a fourth-floor balcony in Toronto's east end.
Toronto Police Staff Sergeant Mike Ervick says the children — a two-year-old and an eight-month-old infant — suffered life-threatening injuries, but adds that doctors at Sick Kids Hospital are hopeful both will survive.
He says their mother, believed to be in her thirties, is being treated for serious injuries at Sunnybrook Hospital and is
expected to recover.
The 27-year-old man accused in Saturday afternoon's incident also went over the balcony but wasn't hurt in the fall.
Police aren't releasing his name to protect the identity of the victims.
The man made a brief appearance in court Sunday morning and has been remanded into custody.
Police say he is charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, one count of an attempt to disarm a police officer and two counts of assault attempt to resist arrest.
..How could you even do that to a small, innocent baby?
