All depends on what genre of music you want to think of.

But in my opinion, it was the 80's for Gun's N' Roses.

It's very hard to say... I'm not sure what to answer... It really depends a lot on the genre and the artist...

70s & 80s imo. Most of today's bands sample from that era. Truly a transforming age in music history.

I would have to go with 90's focusing mainly on the Grunge movement and hard/soft rock.
A lot of amazing albums were released during that era from timeless bands including:

Nirvana
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
Metallica
Rage Against the Machine
Foo Fighters
Weezer
Oasis
Incubus
Muse
System of a Down
etc..
