Conclusion, now-a-days you need really much profit to keep the server alive.

Hello,

Wanguard is good, but in the end, it is just software, and still limited to what a single server can do in terms of performance, which is not enough when compared to dedicated hardware devices, but yes, looks like a cheap alternative...

STOPH! Please, dont talk about any softwares as a protection from ddos.
SOFTWARE will NEWER help you defeat DDOS only simple flood can be denied by softs.

Hey, it works as a 'cheap' alternative, for small attacks, but in my opinion it won't worth it :).

you do realize that even the professional firewalls are just rigs that have software inside them designed for a purpose of securing networks, usually running on top of an enviroment built on top of linux core.

so in theory you could do just as good job with a simple, for the rig perfectly optimized software as with professional firewall (albeit no such software exists at the moment) and couple of good optical fiber network cards.

and once more, general rule is that you cannot survive with solo protection anymore because guns available in internet have grown so big that you need something of larger caliber to fend them off, thus why cloudflare is good sollution, as they have good connections to B and A class operators with loads and loads of bandwidth(as recently seen during case cyberbunker).

imo here's ideal setup for home hosted servers:
*good wirewall (cisco/fibox)
*optical fiber connection (or even several, so you can have separate up and downlink)
*properly thought and set up network, for example it's good idea to keep the SQL database & all web features on a separate server, unacceesable from anywhere except mac adresses of webserver and gameserver.
*good enought server, preferably couple of some xeon's or bulldosers, loads of ram and well thought up HD setup (using 10 big ssd drives in raid 1+0 would be neat if they would be any cheaper as it would make the server both, incredibly efficient and safe.)

also btw you need to start paying some attention to your grammar or nobody will take you seriously.or atleast i wont.or in all actuality not like i ever will after naive comments like that, but that's another story.

Oh yeah a host with a 1Gbps uplink will surely stop DDoS attacks.

Reseller hosting. We can not defend it. To be the provider's permission. :p
In order to be able to defend their own servers and computers that would be needed to operate the web sites. The only ShadowHost reseller. So what are you waiting for?
Creating protection service and hosting are two different categories....
