When you guys edit index.php make sure you save it using ANSI

because for example

'[COLOR="#FF0000"][B]¦[/B][/COLOR]');

is responsible for loading pages/modules, and UTF 8 may change them into xA6 code and then situation like you describe happens.

You can of cource change that symbols in every place, but w.o touching anything like i said ANSI is the key.
