Greetings fellow members of RaGEZONE.

As you may have noticed the PangYa! Section recently made it's comeback with the release of the Season 4.9 server.

We have closed the old Season 1 threads but left them for archive purposes.

To have a good experience while using these forums, we ask you to keep the following points in mind:

1. Read (and search!) before you post
It sounds trivial but as we have seen in the release thread numerous people ask the same question all over the place instead of reading relevant existing topics.

Read and search the forums before posting (especially the stickies!); if you have issues not directly related to Pangya, use a search engine like Google to find answers before posting here. For instance your SQL Server related problems are misplaced here and should probably go in one of RaGEZONE's general forums.

Keep in mind: Having one good topic on a matter is better than having five average ones (also makes it easier to find and less spam-ey when searching!).

2. Look at a thread's date
General rule of thumb: If a thread is from 2009 or older, your chances of getting support for your current 4.9 server are slim. Please don't resurrect these threads, create new ones instead.

3. Provide information
When asking about errors, please provide sufficient information. The Pangya server components are quite verbose and produce usable output that helps others to identify your problem.

Be as verbose as possible and explain what you tried to solve your problem so we don't have to post unnecessary steps. That also means: Try to solve the problem yourself before asking for help.

Also, if you inquire about the old season 1 server, please make this visible and clear in the thread title.

Again: This point is not optional. Our magic eight ball does not work too well these days and we do not have the gift of reading other people's minds, so if you don't provide us with informations, we cannot help you.

4. Don't just post images (really!)
It seems to be a popular trend to simply dump 2 images into a thread and call this a question.

Let me tell you why this won't be tolerated:
  • Images hosted on ImageShack or other offsite services might get deleted over time. People who read the thread much later might not be able to see them and therefore cannot grasp what the thread is all about.
  • Images aren't searchable. If you provide an image with error messages, people cannot search for it using the forum search.

If you have to provide images, please use RaGEZONE's integrated attachment feature to attach images directly to your post.

This does not replace a good log output, it is an extra to visualize the problem.

5. Don't double-post
The forums should merge your posts but don't challenge the software. As usual there is an "Edit" button but smaller corrections, so use it instead if you remember something minor.

Posting the same question multiple times over the course of several days will not make the answer come any quicker. People will answer if they can/feel like it and repeating the same phrases over and over doesn't motivate people to answer you.

Of course, this also means no bumping of threads.

6. Don't beg or request
You want something badly? Do it yourself.
Begging people and requesting things is just plain rude to the people who do the actual work.

This does not mean you cannot ask for specific features in a friendly tone but it does mean that you should not post something like "I need editor fast, thx" and believe this will go unnoticed.

7. Don't advertise
We know PangYa! is cool. That's why we're so delighted to finally have private servers for it again. We also know you guys are amazing, modifying your PAKs, adding nice items/events to your servers or having a breathtaking community with thousands of players. Thumbs up, we love it!

But let's face it: RaGEZONE has special forums for making these things known to others. Please don't advertise your servers or sites here.

8. What goes around, comes around
Asking is fine, everyone has some questions. But after a while you probably have the matching answers.

If you got help from other members here, please be kind to others and contribute some of your time and knowledge so other people can solve their problems as well. Your contributions keep this section alive.

9. You post it, you answer it
If you post a question and manage to answer it yourself, please feel free to report back.

It would help others with the same problem (people who will search the forums first, of course) to get a grip on their problems without having to post new threads if you could spare 5 minutes and explain how you solved your issue.

Please refrain from editing your initial question to something like "Solved, please close thread", leave the original post intact so others can find it. Ideally you edit it and post a link to your answer, so people don't have to study lots of posts.

10. We talk English
Remember kids, basic English sentenses usually consist of a subject, a verb and an object. If you're unable to post even simple English sentenses and fall back to posting one or two words followed by a lot of question marks, you will get an infraction and your post will be deleted.

This is important to allow people who do not speak English and have to rely on translation software to follow a thread.

11. Thanks, we appreciate it
If you want to show your gratitude for someone's post/thread and you have nothing else to say, please use the "Like" link in the lower-right corner of each post. Do not spam threads with responses that only consists of "thx".

12. Releases are for releases, Tutorials are for tutorials
When creating a thread, please watch where you create it. As the forum description states, the Releases forum is for releases - not for your questions.

Same goes for the Tutorials forum - it is for tutorials only, not for your questions.

13. What happens if I don't care about the rules or didn't read them in the first place?
Depending on what you've posted, where you've posted it and how often you've posted it your thread/post(s) are either getting moved to the correct forums, merged with other alive threads dealing with the same issue, or simply deleted.

Blatant and repeated violations of the section rules will be awarded with an infraction.

These rules only apply to new threads, so it is possible that you will see a post that is in the wrong forum or contains posts that are not allowed according to the rules.

14. PangYa is about having a nice time together
So let's have a nice time around these parts too. No discrimination based on race, gender, origin or your choice of ingame-character (of course we know Kooh's the best, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion). We will make up the rules with you guys as we progress so everyone here can have a nice time.

We hope you enjoy browsing this forum and find the informations you're looking for.
Feel free to contact us at any time if you feel we're missing something critical.

As your new moderator , I would like to remind you of some new things.

1 ) Please refrain from posting in NonEnglish. Like what rule number 10 says :

I've been doing some cleaning up lately and have found multiple posts which were not in English , so please follow the rules to avoid getting a warning/infraction.

2) You may bump a thread which is less than 4 months old (due to lack of activity) , but do not bump a thread which is older than 4 months old.

3) Please , post a thread in the appropriate section. I've seen alot of help threads in the tutorial and development sections. Asking for help is neither a tutorial or a development , it's learning and it's meant to be in the main section of Pangya , which can be found here: https://forum.ragezone.com/f200/. It's like what rule number 12 says :

12. Releases are for releases, Tutorials are for tutorials
When creating a thread, please watch where you create it. As the forum description states, the Releases forum is for releases - not for your questions.

Same goes for the Tutorials forum - it is for tutorials only, not for your questions.

4) Use prefixes like [Help] , [Tutorial] , [Release] and [Development] . This is because , if by any chance you post in the wrong section , as a moderator I can help you to move your thread to the appropriate section. However , repeated actions of posting in the wrong section may lead to a warning or infraction.

5 ) Follow the rules. As what rule number 13 has said :

I hope that you guys will be able to cooperate with me to keep Pangya section a clean and active community . If any problem persists , please do not hesitate to give a PM :) Thank you.

Update on Rules:

As of this moment , the necroposting rule has been revoked. This being , users can post comments on old threads as long as the comment posted contains/gives valuable information to the discussion board.
