Project vEngine - An HTML5 Game Engine
As you guys are probably aware, we're getting to a point where HTML5 is going to allow developers to create browser based games without having to pay for any additional licensing or pushing the end user to install an additional plugin/application. HTML5 Game engines are already out there, but there are very few open source engines that can create huge games.
That's where we'll come in. vEngine will be written to work with the HTML5 Canvas element and will be preloaded with easier support for graphic asset management, sounds, networking (PHP scripts included), events and more. The idea is to create an engine supported by most browsers and will simplify the game development process without limiting the programmer.
Right now, we don't have too much work done, and until the engine is ready, it will remain closed source. Once we have reached a point where public testing is viable, the source will be released to the rest of the community.
Current Staff:
*denotes admin
*og.Lios [Alex] - Programmer
Cody - Programmer
Zanbon - Programmer/Designer
Cadete - UX Design/Interface Builder
Features already included:
NEW: Nightly Working Example - Every night I'll upload my working example to the following link. The example will change quite a bit since I just use it to test whatever features I'm working on. The Engine is powering the canvas, and it's pretty easy to get the code since all you have to do is view the source. I HIGHLY recommend not building anything with it (unless you're planning to contribute) since a lot of the functions will probably change, and your games will probably break.

Again, we're not too far into development quite yet, which is why I'm looking for help. If you want some sample snippets or if you have questions/ideas/etc, let me know. Applicants should be proficient in HTML5 and javascript. Any other languages is a plus. It'd also be cool if we could get some graphic artists on board for our sample games/included interface package.

Re: [Game Engine] vEngine - HTML5 Game Engine
Updated original post with more features that have been added. Still looking for more people.
The idea is to create an interface where a basic user can "learn" the basics of game programming, but advanced users are still able to get what they need from the engine. Simplify the process by prebuilding some objects (interface elements, prebuilt events, etc.), physics, and entities (non player controlled objects). Users should be able to build their games with HTML, javascript and XML if they choose. Again, if you have any ideas/suggestions or would like to see more, let me know. I'll have a sample page up in a few days (sooner if I get more help) with the most recent engine build to show what we can do with it so far.

Updated original post. Now contains a link to the nightly build test.
Also added more staff members, though none of them are from ragezone. Still in desperate need of help~

Bump. No progress has been made since I've been sick and the other developers don't have access to the code.
If you are at least interested in watching this develop, we've got a new facebook page: PvEngine | Facebook
We're also wondering what we should have our first milestone demonstration game be. Something simple guys!

You could make a simple top-down PvP based game (like Google did with GRITS), as a demo project, that would be cool. It would also test quite a few aspects of the game engine! :D
