I'm using SQL 2008 R2 for both 32bit and 64bit instruction sets everytime I setup a server. I like the mainstream application because of lots of features can do more than 2005. Aside from that you can install once, not twice like the 2005. And also more columns so I choose 2008 R2.

If we ever upgrade to sql 2008, what will happen to the side of database structure? is it still the same? or will be change and will add more little few queries something like that.

"Update on this thread"
Hosting companies now are using server 2012 which is not compatible with 2005 and 2008 sql databases. Most of them no longer support 2003 or 2008 servers anymore as their new datacenter no longer support old version of OS's. In few cases they allow you to install at your own risk. I have tested 2012 sql on ran and its working fine without any issues or whatsoever as well as it is easier to restore and backup database. I think its time now for everyone to use newer databases.

I recently have a problem with window 7 x64 with sql 2008 r2, I triple check all the config both sql and server but still, the session server with error to connect in db. Going back to window server 2003 using sql 2005 same setup, it works perfectly.
