UV Mapping

Hello guys.

I was wondering if somebody can provide me a detailed tutorial or teach me how to UV map the items I create for GunZ Using Blender, doesn't matter which blender version just show me the guidelines and I will get it to work on every blender version, I always wanted to learn UV Mapping and I hope somebody can teach me it.

I've asked for help, I know that tutorials are filled in the internet but I got couple questions about it, since you replied I guess you got experience with that.

I've UV mapped my sword but I want to texture it and I guess I should do it through photoshop, What is the easiest way to get the same model as the main picture of the sword?
