Zap Hotel <zaphotel.net>
est. 2010-2013. est-resurrection Nov 25th 2016.

About Zap Hotel
I could go on here about how Zap was one of the biggest and best retros during it's prime, and I could go on to state we had the highest English hotel peak of 2,887. However, this is 2016 and no one cares about that poop.

Zap Hotel is a hotel ran across multiple servers in a top tier data centre provided by Microsoft Azure in the South Central area of the United States. We run Microsoft Windows and Ubuntu Linux as our operating systems and they are set up in a professional manner, which you will be able to tell due to the sheer speed of them.

I'm sure you aren't here to read a huge lengthy shenanigans post with me telling you that we basically have all the same features as every other retro and offer you basically the same amount of furniture and clothes, and I'm not here to tell you that.

What I AM HERE to tell you about is the ideals that we have here at Zap:
You start with 2,500 credits and every non rare piece of furniture costs just one credit. There is no point charging more than that.

All rares are released as a numbered limited edition in order to keep track of exactly how many rares there are in the economy and in order to make sure there is no off-record staff intervention in it either.

In order to trade, purchase rares or to decorate other users rooms, you must have a verified email address which we believe the safest route to having a strict, cared for economy in which you the user are solely in charge of trading, buying and selling within the hotel with the least possible chance of people cloning accounts for the benefit of getting rich.

If you are an idiot, you are not welcome. You will be banned at the first sign of toxic activity. In saying that, 99% of us do have a good sense of humour, some of us even a dark sense of humour so most people can fit in completely fine and have a good time.

Most of the community is part of our Discord server where we (mostly) get to know each other, play other games together, and think of new ways to improve the hotel. You can get an invite from any user on the hotel who is a part of it.

We are a mostly non profit hotel. We don't sell rares, credits, or any form of currency to make you better than other players. We are yet to release VIP and the way it works will be outlined in a news article on our website.

We listen to every users point of view and are happy to include features that will benefit everybody.

The hotel is frequently updated with new commands, limited edition rares and we keep the site and the client in a very organised manner.

All of our owners and developers are adults and we have no interest in petty beef with other retros or people, so if that is what you want: we suggest you stay away. You will find no arguments here.

This is the most professionally operated hotel you will find, with active owners, developers and staff team as well as a (mostly, depending on your timezone) community.

We host many events and a decent amount of weekly competitions.

There is probably more but I've written for long enough. Screenshots and link information below:

First retro I've been on in a while since leaving the scene back in '14. Zap seems to look good from the outside. Haven't seen an any issues in games, no lag is present and the CMS is tidy - with a nice email verification system. But what I have to say - the economy is one of the strictest I've seen in a very long time. Perfect for casino's and has a nice gap between rich and poor.

The community is strong with the same 25-50 users on a day. A nice little hotel but during off peak hours, I would say the majority of users are AFK, striving to boost their coins totals beyond 2,500 coins.

Nice work.

Thanks for the comment. Yes - we have a very strict economy which is something I intended to have from the get go, and I'm proud to say it's coming along well.

We are definitely growing.

You are correct in saying that during off peak hours a lot of people are afk striving to raise their coins - this really falls down to our majority user timezone unfortunately. But, you get a small amount of credits and duckets per 15 minutes so I find that it doesn't matter too much if people AFK all the time.

Again, thank you. Good comments like that is exactly what Zap needs now.

Here's a little update to what I posted almost two weeks ago. After being out of retros for a couple of years - I'm now playing Zap in my spare time, haven't missed a single day in 17 days. I genuinely thought nothing would get me back into retros. However, Zap's economy, events, community and staff keep this hotel, in my opinion, one of the best, in terms of professionalism, I've seen in the last few years.

The economy really does deserve a special notice. The economy is run on a LTD basis... very strictly. No rares are released with being a "LTD" with a unique number. The last and the first number of each set sell for more than the rest, how the economy should be run. The rare values are edited, updated and influenced by the users, not down to the staff primarily. This allows users to set the economy how THEY wish - giving the feel that bets are riskier, rares are worth more and therefore the whole "casino" scene is an incredible experience. There are no "bundles" meaning "the bigger your wallet, the more you can afford", does not apply to Zap. The VIP packages are kept to a minimum, yet still making them rewarding. This is advantageous to players that don't have spare money to spend.

The events are put on at peak times from users and staff - giving users the chance to host. The event prizes are "green themed" rares, meaning they're distinguished when buying from marketplace, trading or from other users. This makes sure that the rarer items even rarer, pushing the price up.

The community of users that Zap has gained ranges from the 12 year old 'noob' to the 20 year old retro player. This difference in community doesn't affect the experience what-so-ever. I've seen very few arguments between users and when this rarely does occur, staff are, majority of the time, there to resolve it fairly. The forum is then an added bonus for the community - a place where they can interact and process scam reports - easier and more easy to prove than reporting through the CFH tool.

Staff are mature yet can still have fun. A special mention goes to the owner, Kim. She interacts with the community around her, becoming friendly with everyone. As an old-school retro player, this is a sight for sore eyes. There is no "upper-class" level of user, staff do not think they're beyond the users leaving Zap as a refreshing experience.

Although I'm not affiliated with Zap in a managerial/staff sense, as a player, I feel as though Zap really does deserve all the credit it gets!
Here's to the future of Zap, once more.

Ducking impressed with this, although I sat in a few rooms for roughly 15 minutes each and everyone was AFK; not one word said.. None the less, maybe it's time to play Zap again in my spare time.

Though I think we have personal differences I think you would be a valued addition to the community we have and enjoy playing Zap in your spare time immensely.

Yeah for sure. It was fun playing Zap back in the day, and owning a retro doesn't really give myself any benefits; being I can't enjoy the full experience. You'll surely see me pop-around time and time again.

We are happy to introduce a unique feature to Zap: Crates!

AFAIK this is unique to Zap. Many players wished to buy rares and as I don't really agree with it, this feature is what I came up with to keep it fair.

Not to poop on anyone here, but neither Jonty or Jonteh were the first with this idea in the habbo community. But "Habno.net" formerly known as ubbo or habin has had a feature that is similar to the one mentioned in this post for over a year. And obviously when talking about Habno i am also talking about the other norwegian/danish retro owners that share the exact same website, and features with eachother...

However, they differ. The one on the norwegian hotels acts more like CSGO crates than anything else, with the same effects as csgo but with rares obviously, and the prizes are in a certain class and they can be Master, legendary and standard class rare.

I personaly like the way Jonteh has done this and i like the idea of being able to winn more than just rares but currencies.

However i was originaly in this thread to leave a comment about Zap.

Honestly i've seen many different hotels open and close through out the years that i was active within the habbo community, hotels with different languages and different cultures. Something that is special with this hotel is how it is all organized, how the community interacts with eachother and how the hotel is well thought out. Most hotels think they have something special, but in reality it is the people within the community that makes the experience great, and whenever i did login to Zap i would always have a good experience, something that can't be said about any other hotel besides Zap and Fatal.

Well done.

Thanks for the comment. As I'm not part of the NO community, I had no idea it existed before I made it, and no one I told about it knew it had been done before either.

AFAIK I must be the first to introduce such a system in the english community (I do keep tabs on other hotels, as well as develop for them.)

As to your comment about my hotel, thank you very much. We have a medium sized community and most of us are really friendly and enjoy interacting with one another. Casinos are a big part of this hotel too which makes things really tense sometimes for us to handle, as for some reason kids really do love scamming on sites where everything is obtained for free, lmao.

Looks good, not a big fan of the old me page though. That's just my opinion. I like how the eco is strict too, i hate it when I register on hotels and instantly have over 1,000,000 credits, it's just pointless then. Seems to be doing well with user count too, good job. Good luck!

Been a while since I updated this thread, it's long overdue.

We have something really cool which I coded over the past week or so. It took longer than expected due to having exams for the next month but here it is:

WkCPZtI - Zap Hotel - Unique Features & Commands - Slick Economy - Insanely Fast - RaGEZONE Forums

They're fully editable, however I still need to work on the widgets such as the guestbook and friends list, though it won't take long and I'll get it done easily once I start on it.

I've also added a new lottery system which is fully automated and generates a winner every 24 hours randomly. The more tickets you buy, the higher your chances, but the higher your losses too:

WXTBxAe - Zap Hotel - Unique Features & Commands - Slick Economy - Insanely Fast - RaGEZONE Forums

Though not new, I never announced it here. I re did the leaderboards with a style I found on the uHabbo CMS which was publicly released here on RZ. It was nice, so I took it:

ocDoo4j - Zap Hotel - Unique Features & Commands - Slick Economy - Insanely Fast - RaGEZONE Forums

NOf4MbY - Zap Hotel - Unique Features & Commands - Slick Economy - Insanely Fast - RaGEZONE Forums

NJLLjw6 - Zap Hotel - Unique Features & Commands - Slick Economy - Insanely Fast - RaGEZONE Forums

We have had a very steady community since opening and we have no plans of stopping any time soon. We look forward to serving all new players :)

looks good, Like your crate feature aswell. I took the idea and coded them as an item. within the client :p. You should consider doing the same, much more simpler. good luck once again.
