Microsoft Office 14 ("Office 14" for short) is the working title for the next version of the Microsoft Office System productivity suite for Microsoft Windows. It entered development during 2006 while Microsoft was finishing work on Microsoft Office 12, which was released as the 2007 Microsoft Office System. The major version number 13 has been skipped presumably due to aversion to the number 13. It was previously thought that Office 14 would ship in the first half of 2009[1], but more recent information suggests a late 2009/early 2010 release timeframe[2]. Microsoft Office 14 is expected to be released around the time of Windows 7. According to an article published in InfoWorld in April 2006[3], Office 14 will be more "role-based" than previous versions. The article cites Simon Witts, corporate vice president for Microsoft's Enterprise and Partner Group, as claiming that there would be features tailored to employees in "roles such as research and development professionals, sales persons, and human resources." Borrowing from ideas termed "Web 2.0" when implemented on the Internet, it is likely that Microsoft will incorporate features of SharePoint Server in Office 14.[4]
Office 14 will implement the ISO compliant version of Office Open XML which was standardized as ISO 29500 in March 2008.[5] Microsoft plans to offer a Web-based version of its Office productivity suite, known as Office Web, that will debut with the release of Office 14.

Ah, nice to see they are now forcing IE on you. Spose they finally realized it's a lost cause so may aswel force people to use it rather than letting them choose.

But knowing them, by doing this, they will easily be able to use it in windows 7 when the programs will be Online. Alot easier to stop piracy when you can block actual IP's from connecting to programs :)

That is an inaccurate figure - it includes people who use IE just because it is the default and they do not know how to change it, have no reason to change it, and really couldn't care.

A higher majority of people CHOSE to use FireFox compared to IE, therefore it is the most popular.

Yes, more people use IE, big deal. I'm sure you know that most people still use windows 98 too, does that make it the best? Lets see you run all the latest games on that.

Fact is if they are given a CHOICE between the two, a huge majority will choose FireFox.

not many use windows 98 anymore lol.....0.2% have 98 now 14.4% have vista now and 72.2% have XP

and sure yes if they had a choice firefox would win.. but like i said.. this is reality more people use IE and that... is really all their is to it... eventually the sad fact is overall firefox will be the most common.... but right now.. its not

actually no.. the choice would still be on IEs side i didnt even factor in the 20% that use IE8

Clearly you are getting your flawed statistics from an unworthy site, Windows 98 is still after 10 years the most used OS.

I am not continuing this any further, but your facts are wrong.

For one thing, they have absolutely no way of knowing who is using what unless everybody submits a test. I sure as hell didn't and i bet nobody else did so they are making up these statistics from estimated downloads and by gather information from websites which do detect system OS's and browsers.

The main flaw of these? They distinguish between unique computers by their IP addresses... 85% of the population has dynamic IP's which would be giving multiple statistics :)

No, they flawed because of the obvious problems with the data-gathering which i clearly outlined above.

Most ridiculous thing you have ever heard is that the majority of people use windows 98? I'm not surprised considering you said that MAC being the most user-friendly OS was "the most stupid thing i have ever heard".

Please put your ignorance aside and consider that since i've already proven your statistics to be false, what i'm saying might actually be true. Now i have worked as a techie and i have worked for an ISP, so i can tell you that most people have Windows 98.

Keep in mind that these "most people" are completely computer illiterate, have never upgraded their computers since their original Pentium 2's, and use their PC's for using the internet with their dial-up internet. For people who do not use computers, they do not know that there even is a more recent OS since 98. How about third world countries, you think they use Vista? No, they use 98. Many businesses also use Windows 98 because it is the safest and still the most secure OS to date.

Well, I know not to believe anything you said considering you just said Businesses use Windows Server 2000.

By the way, Just because in the places YOU'VE visited didn't have it, doesn't mean others dont.

I have a library at my town, Almost all are Windows 98.

A few businesses around here have windows 98, Because they don't have the money to upgrade to anything else.

And think about all of the 3rd world countries, that can't afford an upgrade.

They probably will make it compatible for firefox, most people use firefox or something else. I mean they can't just force everyone to start liking ie now.

My college has a web version of office 2003, You either have the choice to open or save, Open = web, Save = installed version.

The Microsoft Excel looks nice as hell.

Also, I wonder how the Microsoft Word + Powerpoint looks and how they function differently.
