Its not really an error, but a slight problem. Well whenever i try to install my starcraft cd, it keeps on saying that its a corrupted file or windows can't access it whenever i try to open it. Its an actually copy of starcraft, and it works when i try installing on my other computers. My computer is not old, and i've never had this problem before. Any help?

Ah yes the genius speaks. Even if i have starcraft installed on my "c" drive, i should simply be able to boot the cd anytime. And i really don't think that deleting it will help.

Sounds like a dead CD/DVD drive. If the CD works in another PC but not in this one, the only thing which has changed then is the device being used to read the CD, hence the CD drive is dying.

Happens surprisingly often enough, i myself have had 3 CD/DVD drives die on me over the past 3/4 years and they were good branded ones.

Does it happen with any other CD's? An early detection that it is dying is that it will randomly read some CD's but not others, but the condition of the CD also factors in ; it will be extremely sensitive to dust or scratches. Just ot be sure, try installing the CD in several other PC's, or remove the CD drive from the other PC and put it in this one and test it.

You can try getting a new CD drive, or you can get a lens cleaner.

Most are for DVD players and such, But I've used it on my CD/DVD drive, and it's helped several times, but if it's another factor besides the lens, such as the motor in it the rotates the CD/DVD, you should go ahead and buy a new drive.

Hmm, i tested it on different cds which i found in my house and well it reads some and it doesn't read some. So i'm just going to buy another cd/dvd player.

Anyways thanks for the help
