Mime type error in IIS 7

I added the mime type ".dat" to IIS 7.0 and still it gives me an error in the site. 404 File or Directory not found. Yet I can view any text documents or anything else that preexist in the mime list. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Server 2008
IIS 7.0
PHP 5.3.1

Please close this. Thanks. The problem wasn't the mime extension at all. In fact it was the URLScan.ini file. Thanks
