I am trying to install Ubuntu 8.10

I get to the partition part... erm I think step 4/7
And I get the following error when I try install it onto a partition.

No root file system defined.

Any way round this?

You have to set a "/" as a mount point for your root partition.

Yeah, it did work but it's something about the file system now.
I'll ask my dad to do it when he comes to pick me up.

Try removing any USB storage's like iPod or something form your PC. I had something similar but when I removed my USB storage's everything worked just fine.
