Attention all of you: Read this Post in its entirety. It contains important information that will help you in achieving the goal of setting up your own Habbo Hotel server.

If, partway through reading this Post you decide to stop reading due to any reason not limited to fatigue, laziness, and/or incomprehension, you probably do not have the patience, persistence, and intellligence required to setup a server. In that case, feel free to close this browser window and never come back, since you'll probably never succeed in life anyway.

First of all, there are 'prerequisites' that you must have before attempting to setup a server and/or use this Forum:

- Know how to use a computer. By this, I do not mean that all you need to know is how to turn one on and browse the Internet and use M$ Word, nor do I mean you need to have an intimate relationship with the inner workings of the software and hardware. Operations such as downloading files from the Internet and copying, moving, deleting, and renaming should be second-nature to you. In addition, knowing how to launch programs and perform basic configuration tasks on the operating system (e.g. Control Panel) is essential.

- Networking. Your server does not exist in a void. It needs to be connected to other computers (the 'clients'), in order to fulfill its purpose of serving the clients. Because of this, you will need to have a knowledge of basic networking. This is essential. The following terms should be familiar to you: internet, network, IP, port, TCP/IP, protocol, router, VPN, server, client, NAT, port forwarding; if not, you may easily educate yourself via Wikipedia and Google.

- Programming (optional). Currently most if not all of the Habbo servers available are in (badly written) VB. If you wish to be able to fix the (plentiful) bugs they contain, and/or add features, then you will need to know the VB programming language. Contributing positively to the forum, e.g. by uploading fixed versions of servers, is encouraged.

Other:

- English: RaGEZONE is an English forum; in order for us to understand you and vice-versa, post in comprehensible English. Do not make us guess at your intention.

- Server Advertisement: DO NOT ADVERTISE IN THIS FORUM. The
http://forum.ragezone.com/habbo-server-ad-zone/ forum is there for a reason. Use it.

- Personal Requests: We are NOT your personal servant. We are NOT going to do things that you have to do yourself. We are NOT going to teach you what you can learn by reading through this Forum. If you complain that most of the threads here are not of much help, that's partly your fault and the fault of your fellow users for flooding the forum with crap requests. In essence, you are making it harder for everyone to find information by making threads requesting for it and thus pushing the useful threads away; "stop drowning yourselves in your own vomit!"

Help/Assistance:

Do NOT Post any requests for help without having attempted to find the answer to your problem yourself. This includes such things as reading the other threads (refer to the previous point if you think the forum is lacking informational threads -- you are partly responsible for burying them and making them harder to find) and Searching. "But the search features is disabled!" you scream. No. Learn to use with the appropriate inurl: option to search this (and many other) site(s). Google itself has instructions on how to use it. See and

Also, there appears to be a general lack of intelligence in the users of this forum. I am not sure whether this is because the users are truly retarded, or if they do in fact have a working Brain but are too lazy to use it. If you do not want to be known as a brainless moron, show that you do in fact have a brain, by reading and following its direction before Posting. In particular, uninformative titles (e.g. "help me") and one-word or one-line posts will get you nothing. The amount of help you recieve is directly proportional to the amount of work you're willing to do yourself.

One more thing: Attempting to be excessively "polite" will not get you anything. Copious amounts of "plz" with multiple 'z's, 'thanks in advance' (showing that all you want to do is leech from someone else), 'help me', and other "begging" phrases only increases our assertion of how little intelligence you really have.

It should be clear by now that if you were looking for instructions on setting up a Habbo Hotel server, this isn't the thread to read, but instead you should be reading some of the other very useful threads instead. However, if you hadn't read this Thread, you likely wouldn't have figured that out. Now go forth and setup the server yourself.

Regards,

holy freaking crap posting in a sticky

With the "rehabbobilitation" of this set of forums, this aging guide probably needs a rewrite.

Also, enough with the empty praise. If you have anything to *contribute*, such as revisions, etc. then go ahead. Otherwise, don't post.

"Empty praise reflects the mind."
