I'm still kinda clueless on the raid bosses.... I was wondering if someone with a lot of experience could possibly make a guide on how to take on raid bosses. Include things like a good strategy, how many ppl, what kind of classes are best etc.....
This would be a very nice part of the forum I would think. And help a lot of noobish ppl like me ^^
Thanks.

well... there are many raidbosses, with many different levels and many different skills/curses.

anyway, i hope i can help you a bit, but would be better to know WHICH raidbosses you are thinking about at the moment.. im thinking about lvl 75+ raidbosses so..

you need usually 1-2 healers (cardinal or elven elder), 4 mage nukers (storm screamer, mystic muse, soultalker or archmage) and eventually 1 tank (paladin, hell knight, shilien templar, evas templar). and you need buffs... prophet, bladedancers, swordsinger, shilien elder, dominator are the best buffers for raidbosses. buffers and archers are not so usefull to kill raidbosses.

all these things depends on whats the level of experience of your RB party, the equipment and the buffs. i know good players that can kill 10 raidbosses in 1 night with only 2 ppl

Ketra 4 mages 1 ee full buff varka thisame giant cave thisame blazing swamp thisame. Good drop-easy rbs. Ember 7 nukes + 2 ee. Baium 7 mages 1 ee 1 cardinal or 2 ee 2-4 rebuffs to kill him. Antharas 3 pt (you must take buffers with you) you kill him in 1.5-3 hours . Rbs are usually alive at night.Elven elder is nuke/healer. He is good class becasue he can regen mana and hp.

Eva Saint or Elven Elder depending upon level of character is a healer unless it is especially augmented. As far as a tank, they are useless unless you are agro large raid bosses like Anty or Valakas. The first stormscreamer or other power mage that hits the boss , you will find your tank standing alone. Nukers of power in typical raid bosses will take the boss from the tank.

imo, nothing beats going and trying, or maybe going and failing. Often the best lessons are learned through failure, and if you learn something its not really a fail is it?

btw, for locations, and levels, check the adventure guildsmen in the towns or check your map under world info.

Generally solo RB's have extra skills to debuff you, or they are faster or something, and the ones with minions don't.

When these guys talk about how they kill rb's keep in mind they are going with full buffs (and normally the right ones, which makes more of a difference) and top or very good gear.

As already mentioned, strategy of taking down Raid Boss may vary depending on server's settings ( for example m def, speed,p def, p attack,hp regen ,hp , mp of bosses, basic stats of players etc.,geodata),RB skills, his minions (usually RB that have minions has less HP),RB's weak points. You also need to bear in mind what resourses u have (e.g. what classes and players u have, expirienced or not).
Also there are couple of stratigies to take down of RB always. My clan for example sticks to one,I d describe below-Raid with tank.
First of all we prefer to have at least 2 parties for raid ( no need for both to be full ;) ).
Tank party, usually consisting of tank and his support players.Usually we have tank (mostly paladin),sws (excellent defence songs and mana saving songs on high lvls),Elven Elder for recharge and if needed for emergency heal( bishop d/ced,killed etc.) abilities+his buffs. And of course Bishop, absolutly must have.U need not give ur tank any attacking buffs, they useless for him,may be except cast speed.Important for tank to watch mana status of his party. If needed he can to ask ppl to sto hit RB and just run around with Boss on his tail, till tank party regen their mana.Just bear in mind Boss also regen his mana/hp and loose some of his "interest" ( aggression) toward tank. Also best for sws to be married with tank-that way with love bow sws 'd heal/recharge tank, using very good helper to both bishop and Elder.
Elder's target is mainly to recharge tank, while watching bishop mana also,at the beginning of raid,it s good to do mana drain to raid and later to his minions.Important for EE,to look that minions r aggro on tank,or after some mana drains he may find minions doing havoc to tank party. From my expirience tanks r getting very upset in those situations, and may use some strong words...
Tank is core player of ur raid. All his orders must be obeyed at once,or else u d die.The only skills he needs to use r his aggression, hate aura( for raids with minions only)+toggles+UD if needed. No stuns, hits et cetera.I use pattern on minion RBs -5aggro+1 aura.Since I usually running on raids(as tank) 4 times using of aggro skills on 1 circle,in the beginning.Later for mana save tank can use some 2-3 aggro skills per circle. Our tank on Raids with minions usually take RB first, doing some aggro on him only(that way minions do not go aggro, just staying aside and watching),and a little after he takes them too ,using hate aura.Imporant do not make tank party leader.
Only after tank decided that RB got enough aggro he issue command to players to hit raid.We usually hit only raid, not paying attention to minions, but in some cases minions needed to be eliminated every couple of minutes. That s nuker//DDs party mission.I dunno any common strategy, may be somebody esle knows ;).
Nuker/DD party:For me 3 nukers r minimum requirment for a raid.In some cases u need more,in some cases u can get raid down by less. Also needed SE,for buffs and recharge.Minimum one Elder u d need. This Elder if needed can be transferred to tank party for recharge support, and vice versa Elder from tank party can do recharge to nukers when he/she has spare mana.WC,BD,Overlord r good to have, but not nessecity. As well as prophet for tank/nuker party.Having prophet on raid can do only good ( expanding with Bless the Soul mana capacity, def buffs for tank and attack buffs for nukers/DD party). No nuking/hitting befor appropriate command is needed for succesful raid without casualities.
Also some raids have areal attack capabilities.So nukers,farther u d stay from Raid,longer life u d have.

In some raids it at least used to be nice to cut minions first so tank can focus his aggression on the boss.
Haven't really done any raiding for a long time so maybe normal strategies have changed :)

Problem is that minions are respawn after some time. They d respawn till u kill Raid Boss. Also, from my expirience on that server, lately, aggression is non distributive skill ( as I wrote minions would not react on aggression skill u use on their Boss, till u d use agro skill specifically on them. While hate aura is distributive skill. So while Aura and Aggression skills have same power ,hate aura d divide its power between all recipient.Aggresion will be effective against target only.Therefor aggresion for raid, hate aura to keep minions on tank.Cuz in case u d hit Boss, some potion of aggro he got by ur dmg is passed to his minions.I dunno if it s some fixed portion/percent from Boss aggro.
Anyway it s RB party choice to eliminate minions every couple of minutes,or let them be till raid dies.

Regarding equipment:no top equipment is needed, for example we used vs 83 lvl raid boss, ppl with A armors and weapons(no +++ armor/weapon),I tanked in Doom Heavy +6(half S/half B jewelry). For buffers any "stick" with acumen is good for example.
