I'm going to be personally coding a server with Cabal's Skill system and Runescape's level system.








Basically, I'll be coding levels 1-99 with various skills including but not limited to (please suggest any if you have any nice ideas):
  • Mining
  • Woodcutting
  • Fishing
  • Taming
  • Herblore
  • Cooking
  • Crafting
  • Smithing
  • Farming
  • Combat
  • Defense
  • Magic
  • Range
  • Thievery
  • HP
  • MP
  • Agility

The EXP tables will be coded using this specific formula:



Work I need help with (Credits will be distributed, PM me on RageZone if you finish something):

Progress so far:

Levels 1-30 Combat coded as of 4:48 PM 02/10/08.
Levels 1-70 Combat coded as of 7:02 PM 02/10/08.
Levels 1-99 Combat coded as of 7:16 PM 02/10/08.
Starting Magic Levels.
Levels 1-99 Magic coded as of 9:55 PM 02/10/08.
Starting Range Levels.
Levels 1-99 Range coded as of 5:02 03/10/08.
Starting Thievery Levels.
Putting a halt on Thievery and getting in-game to get you guys some screenies of what it'll look like.
Levels 1-99 Thievery coded as of 9:05 03/10/08.
Starting Defense Levels.
Levels 1-99 Defense coded as of 4:15 06/10/08.
Starting Cabal Skill System.
All 14 Bowman active skills coded as of 7:18 07/10/08.
All 14 Bowman active skills coded as of 7:18 07/10/08.
All 10 Warrior active skills coded as of 8:13 08/10/08.
All 13 Thief active skills coded as of 9:10 10/10/08.
Starting Magician Skill System.
All 26 Magician active skills coded as of 12:31 13/10/08.
Starting Skill.wz edits
Starting Item.wz edits
Finish ALL Item.wz edits as of 8:39 15/10/08.
Finished as of 7:28 16/10/08.

So a Mage can't bind teleport then wear a Red Bow-tie to job change to a Hero and carry the teleport over.

I still don't see how getDefault would help as it's for newly made characters

You have to dispose the keymap first though, then add those

Hint: Look at the SQL table in keymap. 'action' = first number, 'position' (or something) = third number, second number I cant recall now

Uhm good luck i guess? I personally don't like runescape, never tried out cabal.

Just wondering if you could post screenies of the progress because this seems interesting. Also is this for your custom jobs? Like how you "Fish" by killing the fishes and than your fishing level goes up?

What happens when someone 'level's up' one of these skills? I can see the simplicity of the idea and it's something new and appealing, however, I don't see how it would get further then that. User would have x mining skill, but what would they do with that skill?

Same as Runescape. Trunks, you have to be in-game to see how it works.

Once you get "x" amount of Mining, it'll Notice to your client stating you have hit "x" level and now you can mine "y" ores from rocks. It's simple.

Then I'd code a reactor script with c.getPlayer().getMiningLvl() and yeah. Easy as that.

flowison obv... he going to have to make alot of new places custom made maps, because, he got to make the code for mining a rock, when we hit a rock, a rock piece falls out, we sell it or make stuff we it :) its sounds great, but really cimplicated to make

For the wait just do Thread.sleep(milliseconds)
Or schedule next thing in timermanager
