Hello everyone. Finally going to start giving compiling a try instead of repacks.
Which 2.4.3 server project is still active and capable of compiling under Linux/Ubuntu.
I know Trinitycore, Cmangos-tbc and MangosOne exist for 2.4.3 but not sure if they are still active nor how to compile them on Linux.
If anyone can push me into the right direction, thanks.

Added on that, is it illegal to run such a server on a vps (technically it is opensource and you're not making money from it nor stealing code from Blizzard).

Thanks in advance. I first want to experiment and see if I can keep it running/updated on a VM before actually getting a VPS but hey got to learn somewhere.

Thanks in advance.

You just named the current big 3. They are all quite active, and the most popular. Instructions for each core for unix:

CMaNGOS:
MaNGOS: .
Trinity:

Through my experience, I would strongly suggest Trinity over either iterations of MaNGOS.
