The login information for restricted user is in the Admin Notes of the PW Dev iso, where you change it, I haven't looked.

@Nameles z9 is from Zhu Xian released by Estiger and Jail is a clone of City of Abominations.

343 just curious, I started the cpw initial build last night knowing that it takes a long time, however I have never had it take 12+ hours before. Any reason you can think of for this? In the past it has taken anywhere between 5-7 hrs.

I managed to download it on the last day of my internet month, YAY!

So far, loving it, totally epic release 343, and just out of interest, where did you get the z9 and jail maps from? the CN client? Just, I have never seen them before...

But very cool :D

z9 came from Zhu Xian. I'll be honest z9 was initially not supposed to be included (it had just been released here by Estiger) but since I ended up altering my main copy, you all got lucky and it is included in my release -- fully functional :))

JAIL is a map I actually made myself, by cloning city of abominations... It is my personal twist on it -- I figure this: instead of 'banning' people -- when players 'misbehave' I'll "put them in JAIL" -- that or turn it into a nice custom instance -- either way it's a nice blank instance for people to do with as they please (something to set everyone's server apart, make everyone's 'unique' :):)...

and Thank You :):

what is "restricted user" login? (and where do we change it)

This is controlled in the .htaccess that protects /opt/lampp/htdocs/admin/

The actual username and password files are in /opt/lampp/security/

you MUST know how to use htpasswd to do this ( )

This client fully un-compressed is 10,259,783,680 bytes! so yes, this time it will take a LOT longer than you're used to...
and thanks for answering my questions for me LOL - I didn't even notice till I got down here (gotta love multi-quote)

NP I try to answer what I know for sure. The jail idea I like however if someone has teleport stones they can still get out of it. As far as the initial build, I realize it is large but it is now going on 18 hours. This is not on a virtual machine it is on a real pc, grant it not the fastest in the world but still decent, AMD dual core cpu, 4 GB ram and sata HDD. And no it doesn't run a full server just a test server so only 1 or 2 maps running most times, currently though the initial is the only thing being done on it, just seems odd that it would be that much longer than previous attempts.

Granted I know it would be more work for the GM's / admins -- you don't get to keep your personal possessions when you're incarcerated -- wouldn't be any different here (pwAdmin) ;) [so no, NO one would have tele stones] :):

Valid point, but would be nice to prevent use of them there, like no fly no mount

Heh after you mentioned jail the first time it instantly popped into my head to make respawn point/town portal inside the instance and have a quest that eats a max stack of teleportation items (so they obviously can't get out) and possibly teleacoustics (to be a real punishment). Heck I even had the idea to add a quest that is a "get out of jail" quest that lasts for however long you want jail time to be (like an hour maybe) so when it fails you get teleported out (default is to kill or collect something in instance and upon finish you get out then as well).

*hopes that Anubis adds a better GM console to angelemu, would be so nice to just type "/tele (playername/id) jail 60"

If I'm not mistaken it already is set that way

Heh I haven't got around to downloading it yet so I didn't know if you had that in there yet.

343 I have a quick question for you. In an earlier post on the CPW you mentioned instructions. After downloading the new files there were no instructions for it included. Unless they're in the new Dev-Tools that I haven't downloaded yet.

If not would you mind sending me a copy, please?

Ok after reading through the readme file for CPW, let me get this straight.... In order for it to work, I have to FULLY unpack everything in the client, such as the interfaces.pck has to be unpacked with something like sPCK into it's folder version, then the folder has to be placed in the elements folder with the name interfaces, right? And this has to be done with all .pck files in their respective locations?

And the address in the updateserver. txt in the patcher/server folder has to be what? "http://ipaddress/cpw/" or is there more to it?

---------- Post added at 09:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ----------

Also does this mean I have to put the complete original version in the opt/cpw/files/cpw and then put new files to download for updates in opt/cpw/files/cpw? Or do I put the full client in the opt/cpw/files/new and then simply add/replace updated files for updates?

Also where do I put the new version number so that the patcher recognizes the need to update to the new version? It says:
STEP 3) TO CREATE PATCHES - PLACE NEW FILES IN:
/opt/cpw/files/new/
3.B)
./cpw revision [revision_number]
or
./cpw new [revision_number]

But where is this ./cpw revision/new?

---------- Post added at 09:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 PM ----------

Sorry full of questions aren't I.... XP

YES
CORRECT
Indeedly Doodly
Again, yes

Yes, Place the FULLY unpacked client in /opt/cpw/files/new/

YOU DONT - you HAVE to run the INITIAL build FIRST

CPW is the command, REVISION NEW INITIAL are all 'switches', AFTER you've ran initial build (using the INITIAL switch) you can make patches by placing your new files in /opt/cpw/files/new/ again (just like you did for your initial build) and run CPW with the switch NEW or REVISION -- at that time, if you haven't specified a revision/new # IT will FOR you (automatically)...

So basically it's all automatic now. Simply setup the original base files, run the initial build to tell the system those are the first version. Then add/replace files in the same directory and tell it there's new stuff and it will setup the update for users on it's own with a custom version number and everything....

Does the server have to be off during the update? Or can it be left running constantly, still add in new files and just hit the NEW switch and it will keep going?

OK 343 24 hours after initial build it finally finished. Now here is my question, I have already customized a skin, however when replacing the skin in the patcher from you it wont launch. Is it possible to re key the patcher/launcher I have to work with this cpw?

Yes it works straight from your release, which is awesome much praise. However like I mentioned replacing just the skin folder causes the patcher not to launch. The skin comes from the current cn patcher btw.

You may not want to do the entire 'skin' directory then... I'm not sure of the differences between this one, and the newest (or if the newest would even work [after 'keyed' right])...

First I think I would try to port over or re-create the skin for this patcher. If not -- then you could look into re 'keying' (and I can help with that too)...
