[dead] My guides + databases + server files repack -V2!

Thnx I was able to make 2 channel under test server channel 4 n 5 and able to login on both channels but everytime i change the name of the test server into mercury or any name I cant login? it says fail to connect server I even restart my cabal server n centos but same story, so i turn it back on its old name test server now i was able to login again. But i want to change my test server name coz it sounds odd any advice wat to do?

@Kirgston - The next release is already over w week overdue. I originally planned to delay it a bit to get a few new features in that people had been asking about a lot, then i had to reinstall windows over the weekend which has delayed it a bit more. I would think it will be this week sometime.

@JoniverPH - Use youyou's settings for now. I think any channel number from 43 upwards works but there are some bits to add to the worldsvr ini too.

@swetmary143 - changing server idx does require a few other things to be changed too. You need to check the logs for clues though as it could be any number of things happening to be honest.

you need mssql 2k and mssql 2k sp4 the server, centos, and vmware. ^^ Just look on the guides and u will see what u need :P

Read the first page of this thread for the server files you need, then get MSSQL and VMWare from DarkXL's thread (it's in the sticky). Both threads tell you exactly what you need.

There isn't one as far as i know. I certainly can't find one. The sourcecode is available though so you (or somebody else) will need to compile a 64 bit version.

Hi Chumpy and Cypher i forgot the bind command of windows ip to Centos on putty whats is it again coz im planning to stop my hamachi and use my WAN IP but bindings is needed on putty yes?... Pls help...

@swetmary143 - I don't really get what you mean as no binding is needed for putty or winscp, you just give it the address you want to connect to which is the centos IP.

@Jeffijoe - The first guide to follow is the sql2005 one followed by the vmware/centos. Both are PDFs as it is easier to make those than huge long forum posts (and you can only have 10 images in a post here which is limiting for guides). Then download my repack and check the miniguide that comes with it. Not much is needed for the repack install as my gen_config2.sh does almost everything for you.

Hey Chumpy... Uhm, the reason I asked you about the Step-By-Step Guide, is that Im only 13 Years old (Im 14 on saturday) and that I dont understand all that. But are all other Cabal Private Servers made like that?

I tried to download the mssql file, and when I try to extract it from winRAR, there is just one file, and it have the windows flag as Icon. when I try to open it, it pops up with a box with alot of letters. Is it as its suposed to be like?

And the Centros does the same... And you could make a Step-By-Step guide, if you just have time. And if you dont have eneugh space, then make a part 1 post and a part 2 post. Hope you will make a Step-By-Step Guide with detailed pics. If you do, you will make my dream come true! ^^

You will always get an answer here at RZ but you might not always get a good one. I know i try to make sure that every topic posted in this section gets at least one answer if nobody beats me to it.

All of the private servers are made in the same way and to be fair it isn't something you can just pick up easily if you have no experience as a fair amount of linux and mssql knowledge is needed. Unless you have done all of that sort of stuff before, which many people have not, then there is a certain amount of learning to be done as you go.

If you mean you extracted the mssql2005 and centos files from my first post and you see the windows flag icon it means you don't have adobe acrobat reader installed which is needed to read the guides. All my guides are step-by-step guides. I write them in a very simple way with lots of pictures so anyone unfamiliar with that they are doing or anyone not too good with English can follow them as easily as possible. The hardest part is actually getting the cabal server files installed and configured right and the whole reason i started modding the original gen_config.sh was specifically to make it easier to install and configure a server.

Just follow my guides in the order i mentioned and you should be fine, but if you get stuck just start a new topic and provide as much info as you can and i will certainly help out and other will too.

well in my opinion people shouldn`t start a project that they do not want to research and learn. for example my first l2 server i created was when i was 16 yo, and i started learning for it since 14yo. so it took me 2 years but i learned basics of java,mysql, mssql,html,javascript and php.
Do not request a guide for a retard with click here and click there, learn to use google to: install centos, look at the video guide see what mahi did if you don`t understand a thing ask or google for it. don`t be so lazy, because people won`t help you.

Well the only experience I have, is to make a MapleStory Private Server with TitanMS in 5 mins. But I can only play offline xD
And do I need Linux to make a server? (Dont hope you think its a dump question) or can I use XP?

And how do you learn mssql, java and all these coding languanges? Because for me, code lines and stuff which have to be edited, looks like its a 5 yeer old who thinks he can write, but just draws letters and numbers (Absolutely NO offence, and forgive me if I spell something wrong)

the best thing to do 1st is read 1st search & if theres no threads that can help you, that is the time to ask, patience is virtue, knowledge in not easy to be spoon feed easily it require practice bro..... there are many guides that may help you.... it is the matter how do you get them.... ok... relax moderator here is tired to answer repeating question to everyone be glad they are still here OK.... tc

Well as i sayd in the last post of mine, look at a guide, video guide prefered or u can use chumpywumpy`s thread, and search on google for what you do not know. And yes this server required unix, for begginers use centOS. Please search the help forum before you post.
