To wear or put on an item is the easier part. It is how to use Item Editor to set these up properly is what you should be more concerned about. And there are topics already on how to exactly use item Editor to add new items into existing itemstrtable.

Use your Rantool/Skinpiece and change its type from head to headgear, that should fix your problem. This thread is like 6 years ago xD
