Installing Microsoft SQL Server 2000:
1 - execultar autorun.exe
2 - Click SQL Server 2000 components
3 - Then click Install Database Server
4 - Click "Next"

Creating account manually

Go accountdb in database, you'll see there are many tables inside this database, AGameUser, BGameUser, CGameUser and etc, are to the table AGameUser logins that begin with the letter "A", for example would be SpyLord SGameUser. Click the right button on SGameUser (if in case I go to login SpyLord) and go to Open Table> Return All Rows and fill in the fields userid, passwd, RegistDay, DisuseDay, UserPeriod, StartDay, lastday, EditDay in other fields you can put "0"


Configuring ODBC:

Go to Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools and open Fonda Data (ODBC), click Add, select SQL Server (usually the last in the list) and click Finish on the next screen appeared three fields to fill in name c8master place and write server (local), then click Next, Next, then check the box Change database to: and select accountdb then click next then finish, and now OK

Configuring the client:

Connect Failed:

Failed to connect to the server, is usually caused by misconfiguration SQL.DLL. In the tutorial above I replace the use of SQL.dll by ODBC, ie SQL.dll no longer need be used. But the server continues to use it, so we have to delete the SQL.dll pro server using ODBC.

Recommended system Windows 2000 or 2003 Server ia32 / x86 build. (This method won't work on x64, and will break 2008 Server or Windows 7 as SQL 2000 is not compatible)

No information on how to start the "website" and no links for Webserver software.

Please user [Guide] tag, and if an Admin could move this to the "Tutorials" section, that would be great.

Could use some formatting... code & /code tags around hotuk.ini and b /b tags around section titles.

Other than that, it looks good as a replacement for many of the old guides we have which have been corrupted in the RZ database updates.

I don't see how that is relevant.

This thread still needs to be tagged, and should be in the Tutorials sub-section. (though I think there are better ones already there)

Advantages to this are that it will work on very old PT, and on *VERY* old servers... disadvantages are that it will *NOT* work on anything even vaguely current. (ie. any OS actually still supported and sold by anyone. 2000, XP and 2003 are all dead historical OS. No more support. Vista won't accept SQL server 2000, let alone 2008 server or Win7.) XP struggles to support EPT v2.0, Vista doesn't support it at all, without compatibility fixes.

Besides 2003 is a good candidate to run a PT server.

EDIT: And so is XP, until 2014. And also PT graphical engine runs best on Windows XP (unless you tweaked the engine like some servers did)

I'm not writing them off... that's why I list it as an advantage of this method. Extended support still exists for XP and 2003 (actually MS keep pushing the "extended support" date back on XP, because it is so popular) but they aren't being sold as new. (I dare say you could pick up a copy on Amazon) Do you know someone who will rent you a VPS or Dedi with them pre-installed? I can't find any. (that's the disadvantage... not the whole story)

I suspect this method would work on NT4 (which I still use a lot for developing, because it's very lightweight and if my software works on NT4 and what-ever is the latest thing, it should work on anything between) but I'm not convinced that that specific download will work for NT4, or any version of Windows that doesn't have SQL 2000 already on it... I'm going to test that out... because a very lightweight *old* OS behind your PT server does have some really good advantages.

SQL 2000 is the newest version you can still run on NT4.

You are are darn good Googler then because I can honestly say I have been searching for 2003 VPS / Dedi and not seen anything for over 8 months.:blink:

I'm not saying you are telling falsehoods. I am simply surprised.

I've clearly been using the wrong terms, because I can find them now... I don't know why I haven't seen them in so long, maybe it's just because if you search for VPS or Dedi there are too many pages of Linux and 2008 hosting available.

not Service Pack 4. You will probably want to add a whole slew of maintenance updates to that as well. I'll see if I can't come up with a complete setup, because this system really does run blindingly fast and with minimal impact on a host if you run it as a VM. That's nice if you are running locally, or already have a Linux Dedi for some other reason. (and until there is a PT that works on Linux)

I suspect that NT4 can come under the heading of "abandonware" as well... so a virtual appliance may no be beyond the regulations for release here, but I'll check with forum officials before posting anything that could cause ethical dilemma for RZ. (I wouldn't want that)

Okay... my NT4 server is now running dual-core with no problems and has IIS and SQL Server 2000 SP3a Destkop edition on it... there is no "Start> All Programs> Microsoft SQL Server> Enterprise Manager" or any other interface to it except, Start, Pause, Stop from the system tray. : There is also absolutely no options during setup... you have to pass the SA password in it's Setup.ini file, run the setup, click "OK" once and after some time it reboots your server, and it's installed. (sometimes easy isn't so helpful XD)

Question plz....
I installed the Eng. client (as the tutorial instructs)..copied the files from the server "client" folder...but the .exe does nothing. The client refuses to run. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any consideration.

I don't understand that part of the guide my self.

Don't understand most of this guide actually.

Normally, you sould copy Field and Char folders from Client to server, and copy nothing from the server to the client. (as that would probably break the client)

I don't really like the installer method used here, it's hard to see if there is malware embedded in this distribution, and I don't see the need for anything more than a 7z / Rar file.

However running ToDyServer_Files.exe (sandboxed, of course) installs ToDy 1859 RPT Itens+Gold Max.exe which would appear to be the main server executable... what where you expecting lostsolder05?

I'm not sure another guide would be highly appreciated. The last 3 or 4 that where produced where highly flamed for being nothing more than a carbon copy of existing ones with new links.

We do need something which highlights what must be done differently on x64 systems, and something that explains the difficulties with Vista and Windows 7. (I'm still not entirely sure what they are, as some people seem to have difficulty, while others have none, what-ever I do works fine on 2K, 2K3, XP, 2K8 but not on Win7, and not on anything x64... not tried Vista) This guide should not work beyond XP/2K3.

My release and guide contains a very simple setup which is accused of making the entry level too low, because you need to at least be able to follow guides as simple as the ones we already have (especially the 2 sticky guides) if you intend to run a PT server. The pressure on RZ to support "LUsers" is too high otherwise.

This one, at least has links for much older systems, (the only one which would be supported by NT4) which is at least a bit different.

Your question has been answered many many times.

• Ensure your hotuk.ini has "*SERVER_AUTOPLAY 1"
• Make sure ODBC is registered correctly and you can connect to the DB via ODBC with the UID and password provided.
• Delete (or move) SQL.dll and Clan.dll

If removing the DLLs from your server folder is your only solution, consider replacing them with an alternate edit, and / or check the registry entries you applied.

Without those DLLs you cannot run Clans. :

im not in anyway spitting on other guides that have been made they have got me this far. but i think it would be a good idea for an updated one so ill try my best thanks again i hope u can help me with other questions via skype msn or something. reguardless of the sig. :")

Hello I am new to making a Priston Tale server. I have followed this guide completely but when I try starting ToDy 1859 RPT Itens+Gold Max.exe nothing happens. It doesn't even open. I am running windows xp if that is any importance to know. Please help me or tell me what else you need to know so you can help me better. I really want to play on my own personal server with friends even if it is extremely outdated.
