Portfowarding through a router or basic modem works for most private servers so I'm guessing that it'll work for MapleStory.

hmm if your behind a router its umm i think un-portforwardable?

but if you connect right to your modem just set your modem mode to bridge mode and ull be fine =]

Since there's plenty of tuts on portfowarding with routers I'll go with the modem..

You will need to go to Start > control panel> Windows Firewall (might be different due to your OS/control panel view). Click the Expectation tab. You should then see the tab in the middle of that window named 'Add port/Open Port', click it. Enter your port and give it any name, select either UDP or TCP (generally it's TCP but to determine what you're using then read below).

To determine if you are TCP or UDP, choose Control Panel, and Network connection. Right click the connection you use on a daily basis. You should see this, in the Red box, it will determine if you use TCP/UDP for the 'Add Port' on the section above this.
