Moderator Application - Maplestory

A bit about me: I'm 19 years old (Will be turning 20 in August). I like playing Volleyball and I am currently attending University of Urbana Champaign Illinois for computer science. I'm interested in Korean Pop Music and a huge fan of Manga / Anime.

Why I think the section needs some active moderators/Why i'm applying: The Maplestory Section needs moderators because simply none of them are on much. Certain threads are open for 10 hours+ when they should've been closed way before that. The moderators are on, however they rarely do their job, must I say that the Supervisor is the one doing their job for them? Aaron was the one who handed out infractions in a thread where a fight started and not the moderators of the section themselves. More over so, the moderators only handle threads / posts if they're reported and/or is a diss directed at the moderator himself. The main reason I'm applying, is mainly because the moderators cannot do their job correctly, there are many who have stopped visiting ragezone because of the horrible quality in the Maplestory Section, there are many useless posts (Including those of my own) that should and need to be deleted. Why I am a possible candidate: While I am aware that I am not the most mature person in the section itself, I am one of the most active. I am constantly in the section and I constantly refresh/check the forums itself. I would be able to handle problems / fights before they start and I will also be able to get rid of a large chunk of spam from the section itself (With those talking others down, and so forth).

Past Experience as a Moderator: Prior to joining RaGEZONE, I played alot of Maplestory Servers, and in a number of them I was a Community Manager (I helped manage the plugins, program certain features and keep them clean). Some examples are B12MS, ArikuMS95, and MapleFresh88. As you all may not be aware of those servers since alot of you all probably don't play Maplestory, they were servers with a considerable playerbase.

Things I haven't done in the Maplestory Section: As a one year poster in the Maplestory Section, I have yet to contribute any sort of releases to the forums. However, I am currently in the midst of programming XidusCMS (http://forum.ragezone.com/f689/devel...dusdev-856191/). I also haven't been the most mature person in the section / on the forums. As I am aware that I love insulting those ( not afraid to accept that fact ) I am willing to stop doing so as the Maplestory Section, is like a social network to me, I go on it daily and so forth.


Things I am expecting as a response from Maplestory Moderators:

I am on, you just don't see me.
You all need to report posts.

There are 4 mods.. That's more then enough and btw, that example is already been taken care off. :)

I'm aware that it has already been taken care of, however it took 10 hours for any of the 4 moderators to take any action on it. I was also made aware that one of the moderator viewed it multiple times and didn't bother doing anything.

However, i am aware that 4 mods is more than enough.

When more than 2 moderators have viewed the thread? sure i suppose. I mean no offense when i'm saying this more over so, I'm just trying to get the moderators to either be more active, or to get out. I personally think the section would be alot better off with better moderators.

Not to criticise any mods or put them in a bad position, but that's what the 'new Maplestory moderators' say in their application. "The moderators are inactive, they don't do anything, do they don't any work, they have no idea" > "I can do this, do that - better than them when I get a moderator position

If you have problems with any Maplestory moderators, you can always take it up to a supervisor/s mods to check their activity and how active they are in a particular sub-section...
I'm a GMT+10, so if your American or in the UK, you would barely seem me doing anything when your browsing through RaGezone at night...but when your sleeping, I am most likely cleaning up the spam etc.

You're one of the moderators that i see that do their jobs just fine. However, there are always a few individuals who don't bother doing anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming that I can do a better job than they can nor am i claiming that they don't do any work. I am simply claiming that I am more active and may be able to keep the section under more supervision as opposed to how it is right now. The amount they're doing is just so minimal for the 4 moderators in the section. More over so, the main point of me making an application was simply to get some of the moderators to realize that they need to get off their ass and start handing out infractions.

When you're claiming that there's nothing wrong in the thread, there is consistent spam, flame wars between diogo and the members, and many more. Want some examples? I can PM you some examples of threads that should've probably been either closed, or the spam should've been cleaned or the members should've been given infractions.

Note, i am aware that you're in a different timezone and you are not one of those that i wish to criticize in anyway, as i've said above there are a specific <2> of the moderators who don't do anything, and i'm simply generalizing the whole situation and putting an average above 4 moderators in the section and the amount of work that seemingly gets done. Regardless of timezone, I am usually up until 3AM watching movies, on ragezone, programming Xidus, and yes I have seen you on at certain times

I think that you haven't really given a reason to be a moderator other than "Mods aren't active".
As previously stated, topics can take up to a day before its close/remove if necessary (as long as is not a frequent event), within 10hrs sometimes is just not possible, not the Mods fault. Also it would be a great plus to have released something to the maplestory section prior to applying to improve your chances, the development website does not count as release or as a help to the community of any sort.

While truthfulness is appreciated the fact that you aren't mature enough means a lot because as a moderator you as always expect to solve problems and debates in which you should be as mature and professional as possible, that fact that you've insulted people before just proves that you did so simply because you "can" without punishment, however you didn't took into account how you may have affected the other users. Its great you that you said you will stop but it shouldn't be because you would be receiving a moderator position. Lastly, being extremely active is just not enough, the quality of a moderator far out guns its activeness.
