Section you are applying for?

I am applying for the Debate Section, this is my first time applying for moderator.

Do you have any experience with the section you are applying for?
Yes, I have been involved with the debate team at school, and I try my best to be involved with the debate section as much as I can, but sometimes I don't like to comment because I don't want it to get too heated. I understand the rules in the section, and that's what I intend to stick by.

Examples of My Contribution:

Write a small paragraph as to why you should be a moderator on your chosen section.
As I've already stated, I'm involved in the debate team at school and I really enjoy debating. I like correcting people's mistakes in debates, but I also enjoy when someone puts me in my place because it reminds me that I'm no better than anyone else. I try to use good grammar to the best of my ability, and I enjoying formatting a good thread, so it looks nice and neat. Sometimes I ramble on or get in a heated debate, but in the end, I try my best to state the facts. I am well aware of all the rules in the debate section as well as the standard rules for the entire forum. I understand my contributions may not be plentiful, but I don't like to post threads as much as I like to comment on them, and I can assure you that when I do, they are well formatted, use decent grammar, and contain content that always pertain to the section and the thread that they are posted in. I have won many debates in school, but debating is not about winning it's about compromising and making a truce on common grounds, gathering facts and opinions to create one whole truth. That's why I love a good debate.

Why did you join RaGEZONE?
I originally joined RaGEZONE about a year or two ago under a different alias for the Habbo Section, while I do enjoy that section, it seems to be dying out a bit. I also feel my contributions are more proper and well-stated in the debate section. RaGEZONE has really grown on me and I truly want to be a part of it in any and every way I possibly can.

Moderation Experience:
Aside from creating test forums and working as a moderator for other sites, I don't have too much experience. However, I do have experience with moderating actual debates. So, if a debate were to get really heated or just out of control. I would close the thread or if it's just one person flaming every post they see, I would try my best to handle that individual with an infraction or if it's just complete bad mouthing than perhaps I would go beyond that. My debates have gotten out of hand in the past. Personally, sometimes I jump the gun and make mistakes, but I just try my best to keep myself calm and others. I try not to just flame people and I try my best to make valid points with evidence.

Weak Points:
My only real weak point is that I get a temper once in a while, but I've never gotten to a point where I'm unable to control myself and I usually only get angry if someone starts getting personal. If I ever get to that point I usually just back out and calm down. You can't win 'em all, you know?

Activity:
I would say I'm pretty active in that section. I do not always post threads, but that's because sometimes I prefer to join in debates rather than start them. If you look at the section, you can see I even have the last post in numerous threads as it is. I honestly do try to get involved with every debate that I can. Every once in a while I try to spice it up a little and start a debate, but I don't want to crowd the section with debates started by me. Most of the time, I start debates on current events or ideas that have been bothering me. Overall, I try my best to participate as much as possible and input what I know, what I think, and what I don't know. That's just part of debating.

Aside from being active, I would also do my best to spark activity in the section. I admit not all the debates I start are great, but I can think up some real good ones.

Looks good, but missing the key point to an application for moderating - experience of handling situations a moderator would expect to have to deal with. Have your debates got out of hand? Have you had to reel things back in and control the situation? How active would you say you are? Debate is a quiet section and it needs a good man to encourage activity and get people posting, how would you do that?

Additions to the OP make for a better application bud, think you'd do a decent enough job!

Post fixed. I have respect for your honesty, and also listing your weaknesses. As you said in your last post you have changed very quickly in the past couple days.

You have my full support - good luck.

Just to counter your "Moderator Experience" part. I think Radeyo makes a good statement here, about 2 weeks ago.
http://forum.ragezone.com/f290/burial-osama-bin-laden-760953/index3.html#post7679154

And this is from today:
http://forum.ragezone.com/f290/will-world-peace-humans-ever-944718/index2.html#post7703513

Both times you start a whole rage about oil - not even related to the OP. Also its the way how you do it. Another example here:
http://forum.ragezone.com/f290/burial-osama-bin-laden-760953/index4.html#post7692070

The way you react to that poster is competely unnessecary. You start of with a big rage -> "You, sir/ma'am, need to be psycho-analyzed." - if you handle debates at your school like that, you must have a very louzy school. (Another one: http://forum.ragezone.com/f290/burial-osama-bin-laden-760953/index3.html#post7676676 - "Meh, stop watching videos made by 10 year olds on YouTube.")
(http://forum.ragezone.com/f290/end-823205/index7.html#post7676536 - "Sounds like someone's stoned.")

You would make a good debater if you left stuff like that out, but in my opinion I don't think you will make a good moderator.

I don't think you've contributed an awful lot to the section, but I still think your application looks pretty nice and you'd do a decent enough job.

Like I've said, sometimes things just hit the nail on the head and make me angry. I also realize sometimes I get a bit out of hand, and I say things that are unnecessary. Trust me, that's not how I debate at school. Completely understood though, I'll try my best to tone it down from here on out. You'll have to excuse me on that whole oil subject. The subject itself is relative to what they said, but I did get out of hand, it just makes me cringe when people start saying "they did it for oil." Lame excuse, but no big deal. I understand my mistakes and I will fix them from here on out.

You look like a good guy and you have a good app, you stated you weakness and i respect that alot. But the weakness you have may get you in alot of trouble as a moderator. Moderator's are supposed to keep calm. Maybe you will learn to keep your temper and react calmly to the situation. Good luck!

Thank you all for your comments and input!

@Aksel Yes, I understand, but If I do become a moderator with the responsibility on my shoulders, I will most likely stay calm and try to be more professional. I also believe I may have made myself look like more of a hot head in the application. Most of the time I'm calm, but once in a while there's just that one post that is just the icing on the cake and makes me a little mad, but lately I've been trying to act more professional and calm, not only in the debate section, but around the entire forums. Really thinking twice about what I post now. Like usually I can post just paragraphs on one little subject, but lately I've tried to keep it short, sweet, and to the point unless it's really on topic.

He'll be in a completely different situation as a moderator, and I'm sure he'll adjust to that position just fine. With expectations and responsibility most people adjust to attempt to fit them. As a member you'll always feel more free to express your opinions and put out your words, whether it's for the good or bad. Simply because nothing else is expected from a normal member. He'll adjust, I'm sure.

As for the application, neat and clean. Best of luck, you have my support. Best of luck!

There's a definate vouch from me coming here.

I've been in the debate section for the past few weeks, and I've seen him contributing to a debate (almost) every time. He offers valid and decent points to the debate going on. I think he has the maturity to become a good RaGEZONE Moderator, and he seems like he knows what he's doing when it comes down to Moderation.

Good luck! +1 vouch.
