Dear community,
I had the problem that i wasn't able to play 'Flyff' under Linux.
So now I am ;D

Here is my guide for all the people who want to use Linux for work,
playing, whatever.
I hope it'll help You!

First: I'm doing it with
HostOS...................................Debian Lenny (5.0.1) with Kernel 2.6.26-2-686
NewOs...................................Windows XP Home (No I have not so much money so stfu xD!)
Emulator for Windows.........Qemu 0.9.1-10(for Debian Lenny)
Game.......................................FlyForFun (German edition but i think it will work for all)

Now get all. I hope on the legal Way like me ;)

My Hardware:
RAM:.......................................... 947,2 MB
CPU (Dualcore):......................Intel Pentium D CPU 2,8 GHZ
Swap:.........................................972,6MB
I know it is not the best.. BUT it works ;)

Okay are you ready? Got all you need? Do you have a good book which you can read?
Or you ever wanted to learn C++ or another language? NOW YOU HAVE THE TIME FOR IT!
Ok joke.. but you could read a small book it is very boring without occupation, believe me.
Or write a tutorial like me and tell people some crap they don't want to know like ME! ;D

After all this senseless talk we will start now
Have fun and good luck!

1) Install Qemu and the Qemu Launcher.
....First you update your synaptics Package Repo.
....You can do it in the Console but I'll do it all in the GUI because there are not so much Linux cracks
....out there who are playing Flyff!

....You can find the button in the left top.. New loading it's called.
....Done? Okay than go forward.
....look for the packets (qemu and qemu-launcher) and mark them for installation.
....Then accept it with the Button for installations.

....Now it costs a few seconds and you have a brandnew Qemu OMG it's so awesome..
....I know it was really hard for you to install it.. so we can go to the next step.
....I'm proud of all who reach it. Who not should RLY burn his/her PC.

2)Opening Qemu-launcher and setting up the system.
....Okay now start the Qemu-launcher. In Gnome you can find it under Applications--->accessories
....I think.. i don't know what's it in english sorry but only search it's easy to find.
....You Open it and it looks like that:
....
aNubi$ - Flyff and Linux! - RaGEZONE Forums

....But we want to change it for us so it have to look like that:
....
aNubi$ - Flyff and Linux! - RaGEZONE Forums

....I think I'll go on with this small Pictures sorry for one Big Picture.. But lets go on:
....If you change it than insert the Windows CD and press Launch on the right bottom.
....Now a 'Bios' starts and so we are at the next Point.

3)Erm..Bios..Okay..I want to install windows!
....You can now choose for the Partition etc. I think you are not to stupid to set this crap up.. If it is
....so please contact me via PM I'll give live support.. But for them who know how here are some nice
....Pictures:

....and hours later......... I said you need a book ;)
....

....

....

.... After that you are ready. Now if the Virtual PC reboots you have to do two things
....first.
............1]Close the emu and get the CD out of the CD Drive.
............2]Change your configurations in Qemu-launcher to this:
....

.... Press save and then launch. Now your fresh emulated Windows will boot omg another lucky moment in
....our lives *cry*

4)Setting up Windows
....Okay now it boots. do the steps with the help assisstant.. Insert username etc.
....AND DON'T FORGET TO SET IT UP FOR INTERNET!
.... Thats all. windows will boot now in the Username you choose and then ...

5)Installing Flyff, direct X and the other crap
.... Okay now you setup Flyff and Direct X like usually.
.... First Direct X and then Flyff fer sure.

CONGRATULATION
If all went fine you can now enjoy Flyff again on Pserver or on official servers.

I'm going to stick this for now or until a better guide is put out. I've been getting a lot of PMs about running FlyFF in Linux, so this will be stuck for now.

VirtualBox is a much better x86 emulator than Qemu, and it's faster too. I'd recommend it instead. VirtualBox is for Mac too, btw. Google it.

Ok, working, but it's too slow to be playable...
virtualization/emulation can't support 3D correctly...

Since noone recommended it yet:
Windows compatibility layer. Faster and smaller than a full vm.

3 words:
Does not work.
it seems that the emulated graphics card doesn't even support 3d. plus , it is extremely slow. it's like if you put it onto a very old computer, intel i386 or something.
but nice guide anyway.
oh, and I tried virtualbox, too. the 3D Acceleration worked there (it was shown in DXDiag tool) but Flyff said that there was no direct 3d device.
I got flyff version 6 to work once on wine. but without gameguard and it had a few graphical glitches.
anyone got it work on linux?

it works under wine, as long as you're using a neuz.exe without gameguard. however, when I tried this, the graphical issues made the game almost unplayable. I was using Ubuntu 8.10 I think.

Emulation fails at video games. Bootcamp for mac would work, but that's dual booting and thus doesn't count. I think the highest you can emulate is 32mb graphics, which most (modern) games won't run without at least 64mb vram.

Basically, the only stable way to play flyff is by running the windows kernel.

Qemu is REALLY slow. You can use VirtualBox w/ Hardware VT(AMD-V or Intel VT) for much better virtualization.

Also, with proper video drivers, Flyff (without GG) works almost perfectly in recent Wine versions.
