Generally as a forum, most server's I've seen use XenForo, while there's nothing wrong with this, I'm just wondering, why not MyBB?

kids nowadays like XenForo (i'll always prefer vB over it), but it's the new hip thing i guess lol

vB isn't bad, though I must admit never had any admin experience on it.

MyBB just seems so much easier to make 'unique'. Every XenForo forum I've been to (private server wise) simply looks like a dull reskin...

V-bulletin became pretty poor when the team split up and created Xenforo. Xenforo has a lot of plugins and Administration support. Example, you can give each user a separate unique permission without toying with user groups, which is really useful. It feels less heavy, as far as I know v-bulletin is also 3 times more expensive over Xenforo.

The only forum software I also like (and depending how it works Administration wise even prefer) is what OriginMS used. Was that MyBB?

Won't deny that our Forums look boring too (Legends). You can easily purchase/get a skin, but its not something we have looked into yet.

That's IPB, I've used it for a while and it's great.
Honestly I really don't like Xenforo's overall design, although you can change most of it, there are parts you just can't modify, like the default way it's presented with the sidebar and position of most blocks.

I prefer vB over Xenforo/MyBB but vB's admin panel is horrendous.

The screenshot you provided looks similar to XenForo, but I can't be certain what it is.

I see your point with users, but I would argue that MyBB compared to XenForo is not considerably faster/slower, just MyBB uses older mechanisms.

Though I must ask, why buy XenForo when MyBB is free?

Just visited your forums. From a developer perspective, I think you would benefit highly from having a new theme.

This is why I like MyBB, it's super customizable more so than just colors, etc.

Why use free MyBB when you can use nulled/keygened free Xenforo/IPB/vB?
You get the best quality for absolutely free.

Best quality is debatable. Though I will admit MyBB does have an 'older' default look, but runs seemingly just as smoothly as any other.

(Note this is just based off my experience, I haven't gone and personally research/tested loading times)

Go ahead and use a nulled vBulletin, just wait for the SQLi's LOL. I forgot which vB I used years ago but I tried a few and all of them were exploitable. Also, when I setup a vBulletin on WizStory (nulled), and someone else patched the exploits, we got several DMCA warnings or lawsuits or whatever the hell from vBulletin because of the amount of activity we had on a nulled forum.

and I agree with the above. It's nice to be able to theme everything, this was always the big perk for me when I used vBulletin.

That's why you don't use nulled versions. You use a keygen instead :p

XenForo is $100 cheaper than vBulletin currently. Which is a major difference. Personally I like vBulletin 4 (Never used 5 as my license doesn't cover it. =( ) and Vanilla the best. The major thing Vanilla is missing is a lot of theme options and mods.

Vanilla is free while vB isn't. Although I haven't paid for vB in 5 years? Something like that...

vanilla forum 4 lyfe

I used Vanilla forums and will continue to use it in the future. Like myBB, it's open source and while Vanilla could use some work, I still prefer it over myBB because of personal reasons. vB5 is a mess and vB4 is not supported anymore. IPB is good but not open source and I've never really used xenforo so I can't say much about that.

I've actually never heard of Vanilla before, I'll take a look at it.

I love open source things like that :)

It's a good question. I mean xenforo/vB can be pretty hot, but so can MyBB be these days when used right.

I'm using it for my upcoming server right now and I'm pretty satisfied with what MyBB can do.

Exactly! MyBB just seems so much more unique when you use it right compared to the simple layout of most XenForo forums.

Although I personally prefer vB and IPB, you should note that merely looking at vB's code will get you cancer, or a panic attach at least.
Also the Admin panel UI is horrendous, I've never seen anything that look as bad as this one, not even my 2011/2012 web designs!!!!!!!
But overall, the UI of the templates is mostly awesome, easy to edit (easy to make skins/completely new templates, I've done it one my first try without even looking at the docs), functional-wise it's one of the best out there, yet really outdated (iirc it still supports PHP 4 or something, PHP 7 has been officially released already).

kod vb veri radoactiv

True. I took an extra 45minutes to completely redo the admin control panel as well. The default UI is just horrible. But I can cope with ugly behind the scenes code if poop looks good and works. And it's free..
