If you have a good hardware to run VMWare on your machine go with it.

RDP for what sir? to access your server? windows has a built in RDP on it. for more secured way to connect in your server, use your private IP provided by your server provider. that way you can only connect to your server via VPN (which also provided by your server provider).

Dont forget to configure your firewall and ONLY allowed the RDP inbound in Private IP only.

maybe what he mean on RDP is just a dedicated server for rent.
