...I personally don't like it -- and think we're just going to get more noobs now that wont search all the different areas (since they didn't even search it when it was one area only)...
I think personally put it back to the way it was -- and clean things up by making a fewer number of stickies, and make a few sticky threads that would contain pertinent links to 'child threads' (opposed to having separate sections)
IE: have a sticky thread called RULES -- and within it link to every (non stickied) thread that governs rules
IE: have a sticky thread called RELEASES -- and have links to every (non stickied) thread that is a release
etc etc etc...
Would be a lot of work on one hand, but I think it would be MUCH better than this... It would also take someone dedicated to handle the stickies (the mod) and make sure links are updated as much as possible (and to accept messages requesting that new links be added)
I hate new layout

its not the "new layout"
its the old failed layout returning to haunt us!!

I must say, from what I've seen today alone -- there seems to have certainly been a decrease in 'traffic' in this section =\

I was trying to implement the same thing when I was mod. I just couldn't get anyone higher up to listen to me.
I think you are all over reacting just a little. I could be wrong however as I didn't know that subsections have been here before and how bad they were. Also the sticky threads have probably been removed while he sorts out the threads. What he should have done though is stick them again when he moved them so they don't become lost. But give the mod a break he is using his time to try and improve this section and make it more user friendly to new people. My goal was to make everything easier to find, stop useless questions and make the forums cleaner. Everything was a mess all in the same section, most people don't use prefixes or tags.
My opinion
I don't want it back the way it was!!!
What I want is something that is organized and easy to use. This doesn't mean I want it the way it is either, though my plan was similar. I have put a lot of thought in the past of how to organize this section and the best I came up was what I posted. I did consider organizing the way 343 suggested as well. I started something similar with that thread I was making however I needed more information on things. A lot of people come here and see all the releases and have no idea what to pick. There is nothing saying what differs one release from the next.
Also using the google search still does works. It searches all the subsection as well as the main section.
The only main issues I see is that you have to click more to see unread posts and its not mobile friendly. I don't use the mobile version so never thought of any complications when I was thinking of ways the clean the section.Code:site:forum.ragezone.com/f452
What we need is big discussion on ideas on how this section should be organized and maintained, Mental has to agree to it, and someone who is willing to keep the section maintained.

I like this sub-divisions. It's simpler to find something interesting.
Basicly in the main pw sub-forum located noob qustions. It's simpler to devide all that threads.
it's just a matter of time when the other forums are full with sub forums
After reading Drakaer's post:
What about to make 1 more sub-forum - for questions?
Then, while people asking something, making marks, by what tutorials needed. And then, after some marks come enough to 1 good tutorial, make it, and than all similar questions link to that tutorial.
sorry i meant by that (just woked up) cause every 1 new will just post randomly even my shares(don't have any yet) usually are client sided i don't know where to put them or in development or in releases cause theyr usually not finished(most of time)
I dont like it.
i like sticky rather than subforum.
easier to look, and not confusing.
