Very emotional movie -The dog story!

I have recently seen a movie "Hachiko- The dog story". It's been said at the end of the movie that this is a real story and There is a statue of that dog in somewhere in Japan. Is this true ?

Yeah, there is a statue at Shibuya station and it is called Hachiko-guchi
