How do I make WoW run faster on a Vista Laptop? It runs perfectly on my old XP Laptop.?


Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 Laptop:
3 GB RAM
231 GB HDD, 170 GB free
AMD Ahtlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57 1.90 GHz
32-bit
Generic PnP Monitor on ATI Radeon X1250
Roadrunner High Speed Internet

What I Did:

Except update my video card because I couldn't find my video card on the AMD ATI website.

What I Get:
57 ms latency
11 fps

Now my XP Laptop:
Windows XP Professional SP3 Laptop:
1.5 GB RAM
32.5 GB HDD, 6.98 GB free
Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.70GHz
(Multiple Monitors) on ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7500
Roadrunner High Speed Internet

What I Did:
Lower the quality, but it was working good before I did it.

What I Get:
61 ms latency
30 fps

The problem is Windows Vista. It uses a lot of processing and cpu usage. Which slows down your machine.

How peculiar, I found that games and in particular world of warcraft ran faster on Vista than XP, though if you haven't updated your graphics drivers then it would appear that you will have a problem. If you are running it in Window mode then I'd suggest either disabling Aero/theme or running it in Full Screen Mode.

As for XZeenon's reply, stop believing all the things you read on the internet, Vista runs fine and is not as demanding as people make it out to be.

LOL! I have vusta dumb nuts. Look at your TaskManager, the CPU usage is incredibly high compared to on XP. Nub.

I run both Vista and XP and the CPU usage is fine on both. Neither reach above 80% when playing demanding games so perhaps you should stop running so many applications or remove the 500 trojans you have.

Same for me... whether I use XP or Vista, mostly all of my games run about the same (with the same computer). The only difference is a tad more ram usage with vista, but not nearly enough to cry about... maybe 200Mb more with vista than XP.

I also agree with disabling the Aero theme, and/or running full screen. Always seems to help a tad with my games.

Oh, my pc runs fine. Just the usage is higher. I have no trojans. I guess you have experienced them and know what they do since you download porn all the time i suppose, and I have no apps running except msn, and my anti-virus. Oh and btw, it's a fresh install. Btw chill i'm oviously kiddin bout the porn thing.
