They never mentioned the actual cap limit... but it's an MMOFPS, i.e. - you can literally have HUNDREDS [note the plural] at any given point.

I'll give a quote:

"PS2's cap is expected to be 2000 per 8km X 8km continent."

So expect a LOT of Mayhem ;)

Well, if you saw that cinematic trailer above... such a Scenario are bloody hilarious back during PS1:

i.e. - 2 Factions fighting it out for ages for some area, then in swoops the 3rd faction to clean up and capture the area XD

Beta:

SOE President John Smedley announced that a closed beta test would begin July 30 or 31 "barring any unforseen circumstances.".[16] On July 30 Smedley announced that the beta testing would be delayed until at least August 3 "to make sure some stuff is awesome.". [17]
On 3rd August Smedley annouced via Twitter that the closed Beta will commence 2pm PDT (GMT-7) Monday 6th August

So I'd imagine, soon.

PS2's set up a limited time "Pre-order" [even though it's F2P, you're given $40 worth of SC credits, so effectively you're really just paying for said credits which you use for w/e ingame] deal, which includes Beta Access ontop of various things:

Worth it imo if you're a fan of the game. I'd be getting it for the unlocks (Time saver of unlocking them yourself) ontop of that the 6months 10% xp and resource boost! ;)
