i believe one of the problems is, that there has to be a divider char included to divide the button text, the npc text and the single steps of the dialog... so if i convert the binary without knowing them, maybe they interfere..

I will try a couple of different ways to convert the binary´s, maybe i get lucky.

As for the changing Binary you get if you let the server convert the text a couple of times, that could mean that in the binary´s is some sort of timestamp included (by design from the developer), or since he fails to convert it currently, that he puts a timestamp in the corrupt data.

true that could also be the reason for the different binary output..try finding someway to convert the binary specifying it was converted with UTF-8
if it was Ascii or unicode the Sql Convert should have work right?
guess we need someone to try looking into the script that converts the NpcScriptParams to NpcDataparams got to be something there messing it up since it converting and everything but gives a error about a missing prefix

i can convert it from any char set to another, the question is which combination and what method to use...

Npc ID 4541:

try this one its NpcID 4542 he has 2 steps with text one containing ^(Smile) command making him laugh ingame when clicking on him and next text should be End Conversation

.. no, just got useless chinese again (and a lot of it). Maybe the data in NpcData is more then just converted into binary... maybe they shrinked it or compressed it somehow...

just annoying... there are so much possibility´s and all i do is the trial and error method.

The other thing is, why does the server fails to convert it himself if you use the original chinese data in the npcscriptparams. Since it should be the source of the used binary´s in the npcdata, there shouldn't be a problem with the data types. Any Ideas what that could mean?

must be something wrong with the conversion cant think of anything else
the NpcScriptParams is not the original since in the 800x folder if you peek inside the .exe there you find that the table row i named Script but in the DB its named Script_CN.
we need someone to reverse engineering the NSGameServer_CN_r.exe and see why its giving the error

still working with a couple of people on a solution... but unfortunately we havent figured out how to translate the Npc Dialogs jet.

If someone wants to give us a helping hand, we would really appreciate that ;)

Here are the dialogs from one Npc. The Hex value represents the 14 steps, probably some sort of divider char and some button text. If we figure out how the Hex value is created, we can translate the last peace of the DB.

This npc just have 1 step with text might help, iam also stuck with the same problem as Brezelpeter


Note this Npc will whisper "有新鲜的水果~" no text box will appear with end conversation box or anything.

Others like the npc Brezelpeter posted will most likley have delays between text lines like most npc have in this DB

Hey,
Brezelpeter asked me to help him out with the NpcDataParams stuff.
The hex strings in this table are not simply encoded with some charset, instead they are encrypted.
I wrote some small proof of concept code (see attachment) in Java to decrypt/encrypt those strings.
Hope that helps to translate most parts of the NPC dialogs. The data in NpcScriptParams doesn't need to be translated when you translate the NpcDataParams table directly.
So just:
1. Decrypt the entries of the NpcDataParams
2. Translate
3. Reencrypt
And you should be fine ...

The "--??....." is a comment (they always start with "--"). It looks like the comments were written in Korean but were not encrypted properly, because all comments I've found were broken and not readable, but all important data was. Maybe the text of these scripts was saved in that way to preserve the Chinese texts, which broke the Korean ones.

Good luck with translating all the NPC data ... over and out.

Thanks im an oldtime ragezone member cant remeber my login, 987655 (aka andy1971) ill take a look at the files and insert some new life if i can, neosteam was a great game, good to see its now on RZ

I should be able to try and recall alot of the NPC dialogue, wouldnt mind getting this up and running as a private server

Ive just grabbed the newer client and newer database that was uploaded a few posts back, if any of yous would like me to join your dev group mail me andrewhoney@zoho.com and we can discuss some more, and jump on skype. Will try and get hold of some old buddies who are good with SQL etc from our old Knight Online server dev team.

Hi,

We still have a small issue (codepage thing) with the translation of the npcdialog, i can decode the hex, change values and recode the thing, so i think i can solve the remaining issue in the next couple of days. Thx to "TheMachine2k" again who did the heavy lifting on that front.

Right now we are translating nearly everything from "Google English" to German, that will take some time but we have a couple of people who are working on it.

Other then the NpcDialog issue we have encountered a couple of problems that need to be fixed.

1. DateTime Issue
The Server wants to write every couple of Minutes into the Table "ServerStatLog", but encounters a problem with the DateTime Format. He try´s to do this "cast (2014/04/20 12:42.000, DateTime)" which cant work (cant convert vchar into datetime). The SQL Statement and the Function to get the datetime is in the server exe, so we cant do much about it. I tried to change my Systemdate but didn't get too far... It seems that there is a similar issue with the ConnMainLog...

2. Billing Database
If you open the Premium Shop the Server writes a Information that he cant find the server "Billing" and that we should run the "sp_addlinkedserver" procedure, but i wasn´t able to do that so far. Did someone encounter that problem?

3. Skill Mapping
Some Skill seem to be out of order. The Skill Elf Shield (206) should not give you the Buff "Berserker" (701). We tried to figure out on how the Skill Mapping works but didnt get mutch results yet.

The rest is looking good ;).

FYI: we are also looking into the Texture´s, because they nearly scream "mod me" if someone know´s someone who wants to do that, that would be shiny ;).

Is this legit have anyone tried to translate a npc text and get the server to load it ingame? If this works hats off for TheMachine2k!!
been trying everything i could think of to get the server to load the Npc text with no progress and just a huge headache.


Brezelpeter so your making a german server?

Hi, yes we are making a German Server. I tested the programm and i am able to translate the Dialog and put them in the Server (yes it works and it is in the game visible). The issue i am working on is that he has a Problem if the translated text is longer then the original Text.... but i think i can resolve that issue.

Oh well id love a English one lucky Germans ^^..
Ive tried the Uploaded java file managed to run it and get the text contained in the Hex string but how do i reencrypt it back when i have edited the text from chinese to english?

I think, we can even make our own quest, when we learn enough about NPC quest script.

Brezelpeter: Are You sure You want to make German speaking server and not common English one?

i wouldnt mind making an english one, or helping with the german one.
but i would prefer an english.

I have started to translated Diren to google english to be polished later on got someone to setup a server when theres alot less chinese text all over the place.. Anyone got a good tip on how we can share the progress so we aren't translating the same thing instead we can take a Town each. i you wanna google translate or polish the text is up to you any translation is alot easier to track and polish afterwords
