Anyone here ever successfully accomplish it?
I used to know a few people that did, but they all deleted the stuff years ago.
My interest got renewed in the game a few days ago and now I'm currently attempting the same.
I can't seem to get past the pesky file encryption though and any old links I had in my favourites are long gone.

You mean the Server side NPC display names correct?
The NPC names I've already translated since the old translations look like they were done by a translating program and a lot of them were not close to the original Chinese names.
Same with some item names.
However, the NPCs' conversation text lies clientside and the file is encrypted, along with Skill descriptions, names, and of course item names (not server-side item names, that only controls the name when the item is on the ground, not in your inventory).
I recall a group of people from the Aegis boards that had the NPCs 50% translated when they lost interest in the game, since then they've basically dissapeared though, along with all their progress.
I can read Chinese fine so translating is easy, the hard part is bypassing the file encryptions.
I'm currently trying another method of changing the encrypted text which, in theory, would work fine but take an extreme amount of time.
I don't really plan on releasing play by play information but I guess I might post if I have any majour breakthroughs, either way, help is always appreciated.
If anyone knows any encryption gurus try and convince them to take a shot at it, all the ones I know are either too busy on projects or on vacation, either way its just a matter of patience I guess... but I want it now, haha.
