Yes gotta make sure to add your classes to elements, and also make sure any elements that are affected by your JS are loaded to the DOM before the script runs (if that ever becomes a problem for a slow loading page, you can look into "defer" attribute for externally loaded script).

I always had fun programming simple games to run in command line for C# or Python :) Or some simple web based RPG in PHP/MySQL or some other web stack. C# is cool cause you can apply what you learned to Unity. Javascript is incredibly useful and can later be applied to userscripts or node.js...

If you guys remember there actually was raids, takedowns and legal action against MU private servers in the past. It ramped up around 2005 - not sure if they still care today. Back then nearly all servers were running on leaked server files, luckily now you have more of a legal grey area...
