Mysql error-access denied. CentOs 5.8

Hello guys ! I have my problem here.
I get error message when i type this command : mysqladmin -u root password.
i changed the root to 'myhostname' in order to get it work but the error still appears. its kinda different.


ps : I have post a same post on the setup guide there but it seems like the thread is old, noone is going to look at it. so i post at here.

/Request mod to close this thread. Already helped him through PM. It was an issue of mysql server not properly set-up. He had to reload the whole OS to have a fresh workspace and install the mysql-server first before anything else.
