Re: 10,000 pushups challenge
Totally fucked my diet up this summer. Got off work for 2 weeks due to going to Turkey and eating like a tank on their traditional food, then coming home and resting, returning to work and then resuming my lazy diet yet again. Going to do this starting next week, going to be helpful getting warmed up for the rest of winter.

240 seems really low... Lets do some math
Average person is up for around 16 hours a day so:
240 / 16 = 15... Does that mean you can only do 30 pushups max? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but I thought you made a post a while back saying you're quite fit. Either way, I bet you could push yourself to do 25 pushups per session and make it 5600 in 2 weeks ;)

Completely agree, the only reason I jumped to the conclusion you were trying to get as many done is because this is the 10,000 pushup challenge thread :P
Re: 10,000 pushups challenge
World Records for Push-Ups
World record for continuous push-ups is more than 10K. Wut.
World record in 1 year is 1.5 million, which is ~4100 a day. Wat.
World record in 30 minutes is 2354. :zippy: I feel like calling bullshit on those.

The videos of "world record" push-up holders on YouTube I've seen have shown people going between the angles of 60 degrees and 80 degrees. I'm not sure how world records are judged, but from my understanding they require a complete push-up, from straight (not locked) to 90 degrees and back, which in proper form is like 5x as difficult as a quarter of a push-up like those videos demonstrate. It's also hard to do more than one per second for any extended period of time unless you have incredible cardiovascular fitness. Even one every 3 seconds is a pretty high pace for most.
Re: 10,000 pushups challenge
I did 50 push-ups at noonish, did 40 at 6pm and going to do around 30-40 again before I go asleep. Going to see how far I can push myself before I attempt to do the challenge itself. Should be able to do it if I carry on pushing.
Re: 10,000 pushups challenge
I'm actually using "hardstyle" pushups since I hurt my shoulder. I've only been doing sets of 5 reps but it's getting me there!

I did a shit load after eating today, going to rest, drink and get back to it in a little while.
