    10th Planet From the Sun

    http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2...ul_planetx.htm

the planet's name is 2003 UB313, yeh a bit odd lol. it takes 550-odd years for it to make one cycle around the sun. if you were on UB313 and looked in the night sky, the sun would look like any other star out there because of the distance. the temperature is a little bit above 0K, the lowest temperature there can physically be.

dunno, i've always found stuff like this a bit odd since while you're in school, they always try to drill in stuff into your brain.

Saw that on the news yesterday. Pretty amazing though not supriseing. Astronomers been saying that there had to be a 10th planet in our solar system, a brown star in it, or a black hole just out side of it due to the iregularty of Neptune's (or was it Uranis's) orbit (which happen to lead to the discovery of Pluto). Still, this body is not big of enough to affect the orbit of Neptue (or Uranis). So there is still something else in our system I belive.

I know what you mean, you kind of take what they say for granted. Especially since you learn about the solar system when you're very young and you don't argue with it, you just accept it. Then this happens.

This is the first time I've seen this, pretty strange really. Wonder what its final name will be?

Uranus had the the irregularity in it's orbit. When astronomers looked at where it should have been in the sky through there telescopes it was always off slightly. Using a bit of *yawn* maths they caluated where an object should lie that could addect Uranus in such a way and BAM!

They found Neptune. But further observations found that Neptune wasn't massive enough to distrupt Uranus so they must it implied that they was something more out there.

Pluto was found after hours of the mind numbingly dull process of looking at 2 pictures of the same patch of sky taken a few days or weeks apart. Astronomers thought this could be the planet to explain it all but with the fact that Pluto is smaller than our Moon, this too was still to small to account for all these things they were seeing out there.

    The search goes on. Kinda.

If I find it I'll see if I can called it RageZonenia.

They already had a tenth one, Titan I believe where they found a living substance.

    Unless it was a moon.

How do they know this planet exist. They can't possibly fly to it, it would be too cold and would take probably a million years. If they had a telescope wouldn't they see it before?

just get a suana (SP?) suit and send someone up there :p.

I dont ever think we'd be able to manafacture something that could surive that temperature. By the time your in it's orbit you'd be deadfrozen.
