anyway, i thought of something
americans (i think) instead of counting the actuall number they count the zeros
hundrer = 00
thousand = 000
million = 000.000

and so on and so forth

therefore, if they say billion = 1.000.000.000 then thousand million = 000.000 + 000 = 000.000.000 (and you put the 1 just to look cool)

But that still doesent explain whu UK poeple said it
