A girl died in my school (announced today)

Today it was announced that a girl comittited suicide in my school, It turns out I knew her pretty well and that she was a close friend. Tomorrow the staffs meeting on what to do. How do you guys deal with it when something happens like this, I just don't know what to do really other than blank thoughts and knowing that I'll never be able to talk to her again. I guess I just need a little advice that I thought I'd never need :/

I can't really advice you since I've (Glad I haven't) never lost a close friend. But you should talk about it with friends, and try to move on with your life. I feel sorry for you, but you can't bring her back.

The last time someone close to me died it was about 3-4 years ago, when my dad's grandmother died, and even then, we found out about her death only a year after she died, so.. I have no idea what I'd do if I were you... I just you just have to move on eventually...

Try not to let it affect your schooling. Can't offer much help as I've never been in that situation.

Does your school have a counselling service? Don't know if you are in the UK but most schools here offer that kind of option. I suppose talking about your grief is the most important thing, just don't let it consume you. If all else fails i'm sure everyone here at ragezone would help :)

Nar but on a serious note, most schools these days do have a counsellor so if you are feeling down, why not see him/her.

My GF's mom died of cancer :(

It sucks ,yes. But tbh, live with it. 2 kids die at my school each year, whether on or off campus. 2 weeks ago, an JROTC student, was walking to his car and got hit and the driver took off, caught him right after. Kid was annoucned dead at scene.
I'm sorry I'm just trying to make your situation a lil easier to deal with.

Well she commited suicide... so it was what she wanted.
You may think it is worse that she commited suicide but, that's what suicide is, ending yourself. It's not like she was murdered or spent 3 years battling cancer.

I've gone through this before since ive lost a friend before in a car accident. (he didnt die he was just pronounced braindead, so its basically the same thing) The first thing you need to do is if you are feeling any pressure of some sort building up then let it out since it can then consume you and cause you to do something you are going to regret. If you have other friends who knew her, then just talk about her and keep her alive through memory. Also I sometimes still visit my friend even though he cant recognize me or anything its still nice to see him, and maybe you could visit her grave and pay respects there?

Don't let this consume you. Death is an everyday thing. You can always fill that emptiness with another friend.

I have been through similar situations several times. Life just goes on for me. There are times when I have flashbacks but I try to find a distraction. It may work for you as well.

thanks all, I've been trying not to talk about the bad part, and it's been really helpful in my mind state. I did take some suggestions and I am feeling a little better now, it's hitting the school hard right now and I'm just glad that I can finally get my head around it...It does affect schooling a little, but I'm trying my best. I think finding a reason to why she did it cleared my blank thoughts...that was the most important thing to me.

And yea, I said the same thing as you quaz, I can understand. But in new recent events it always hits hard for those couple of days. And moo, I guess I kinda agree at least a little.

well thanks anyway, I guess this weeks been pretty crappy in general but it's slowly getting better, I can use the saying "Time heals all" for once in my life because it's true to me in this situation

Don't forget her, but also don't linger on it. Spend maybe an hour or a few thinking about it, and let it sink in. After that just let it go and move on. Why waste your time sulking about something you cannot change? Just live life and accept the fact that people die, and you'll most likely experience more deaths throughout your life.
