If one gnome asked for all the hats off everyone to be thrown out by the entrance to the tree and he then walked out (with his hat on), then noticed his hats colour and threw the rest of the hats the same colour back in and asked for 49 other gnomes to put them on then walk out. Then threw the other 50 of the other colour back in and said for them to come out? (I know it was said they had to walk out in two groups on 50, but they are technically coming ou in 50 never mind the time difference. He didn't state they all had to come out within e.g. 2 seconds of eachother did he?)

So I've come to the conslusion that the gnomes live in different sectionsof the tree.

Reds on the bottom.
All they do is have to have the white and the red ones walk out at the same time.
The whites maybe from a tree branch and the reds just on the floor.
I guess you would have to have more of an imagination to get what I said.
