    Re: America is going down

Unless Americans, and the rest of the fucking world....can get used to living without loans, credit carts, and buying ONLY the shit they CAN afford..then there might be an improvement.
But please...who are we kidding, that isn't going to happen.

Holy shit.... that article is old.
You just pointed something out that everybody has already heard about, and has already been done. It was titled The Paulson Bailout. The article there is from September, Forumer. The Paulson bailout was around $700-to-$850billion (USD) in total. About $250billion (USD) has been spent, thus far, in buying various toxic-assets. In total, summing up all of the other bailout packages that have passed, approximately $2trillion (USD - 2,000,000,000,000) has been spent by my Government, thus far.

Alas, as I said, this is old news, at this point. This thread would have been appropriate in September or early August... at this point, it isn't that America has fallen, but rather that it is putting up an admirable fight to stay alive (which might very well succeed - no matter how incompetent the leaders, bankers, and businessmen are, the economy has a way of righting itself to spite them).

In Latvia we just had the same problem,a private bank almost bankrupt because every1 was taking their money out of the accounts,so government had to do something, they bought the controlpacket(dunno how it is in English correct) and spent loads of money to save the bank from r.i.p. that means it is governments property now,not a private bank!!!the bank was very reliable, but the crisis did its job well(if u can say so)!!!hope it will get better in some time,I hope for the next winter, not earlier!!!

    SAD :(

War does nothing but bad on the people who can't deal with it. You need to be real tough to be able to kill without regrets.

There is just 1 huge difference between the US and for example the Netherlands where we guarantee 100.000 euro, and that's that we can actually give people that money, the US has no money, it's debts are huge and are only getting bigger, if all the banks drop then it makes no difference how much the US guarantees, it's not like they even have the money to give to people.

The simple fact is that the US screwed itself, and the rest of the world over with your crappy politics. In the Netherlands we had 1 bank that was about to go down, and what did we do? Right, we bought it, we made sure we didn't screw up like the US did. And to think that our government isn't nearly as good as it should be, but compared to the US we're saints.

Now i do agree that removing the money makes it all worse, but tbh i would do the same, as like i said, the US does NOT have the money to actually guarantee that money. Also if i were those people i would exchange dollars to euro's, because once it all does go completely to hell, the dollar will drop bigtime.

Who all read about the Citigroup bailout?
Did they also read about Citigroup's revised Terms of Agreement for their credit cards and those they have loaned money out to?
If you ever default on a payment, or cannot honor a payment, or fail to pay in an orderly fashion, etc... without exception, the interest rate on your loan/credit-card is raised either by 23.99% or to 29%, whichever results in the higher number, on a month-to-month basis. That means that if you have a $5000 loan, and fail to pay it off on time just once, or rather pay in a fashion deemed intolerable, even if you make payments of $128 a month, it will take you five years to pay that loan off, and you'll have paid back $15000. That's three times what you took out.

I hope none of you had stock in Citigroup... considering 90% of their value disintegrated in the course of a single week.

    Hahhahaha, that's ridiculous.
It's funny, the government is bailing them for a second time now aren't they?
Honestly none of this is making sense. It's so hypocritical, how when people are in financial trouble with these big companies, they get into even more shit, and when these same companies are in shit, they get bailed out by the government.
