I dont know so much about Akira... what i knew about that came idd from AnimeNfo...
Still to the best of my knowledge its that "Ghost in the Shell" came out in 1995 in japan and was distributed a year later in the USA in english...
TBH if i get the choise i would really go for fansubbed titles in stead of english dubbed ones... When i really wonder why i ld do that then the best reason i can come up with is because
1) For some reason the japanese voices sound more natural to me ... i ve got the feeling they always fit more into the character ( this is something that i first noticed with "Shin Seiki Evangelion" ... Misato comes out totally different in the english version)
2) I ve got a thing with bad lipsync ... seeing lips move without sound or otherwise is 1 of the most irritating things possible (the same reason i always watch english movies in english ... and not those Dutch-dubbed versions )

I dont know if there are many kind of evangelions (like there is with .hack) but if you can find me one it would be the first...if its not in a logical order the one you like most ;) PS: i downloaded 12 episodes from suprnova wich were in english and i didnt watch them, and some other that SAID english subtitles (and i assumed jap voices) but it was in english again
am i just being fooled? Is there no evangelion in japanese? please say so otherwise...

There are japanese "Shin Seiki Evangelion" releases, thats for sure :)
and also 2 longplay movies ... 1 thats really worth watching plays after the series (End of Evangelion) and a rather bad reinterpret of the series itself (Evangelion : Death & Rebirth)

Hmm... I have EVA in fansubbs.. really sucky qual though (26 eps on like 3 cds >_<) but if you want them give me a pm and I'll give you an ftp account..
and Dragon. yes. it was released that way.. It was still a joint production though neither manga entertainment or p IG want's to admit it ^_^
Bandai was happily distributing the fact back when it was released though ^_^ A little more hush hush now though.. Probably due to Innocence
