And in addition, @ChewBecca how did you become supervisor? ^^
Well, Junkers is the name of a German aircraft company who manufactured some of the Luftwaffe's most common aircraft during WWII. When I was 10, a good friend of mine (and now a good drinking buddy!) did a presentation on the Junkers aircraft, particularly the Ju-88. Fast forward to age 14 and in High School my friends and I were heavily into Mario Kart. Used to run massive tournaments that were often over-subscribed. I had bought my DS and the last guy's username was still in it. Wanting something unique, I don't know why but I mentally went back to that presentation my mate made, and picked Junkers. So since then, Junkers has always been an online username. However my previous username on RZ was Lazlow as I was a big GTA fan and there's the radio DJ Lazlow Jones :P:
Due to popular demand and a lot of PMs a received to re-open this thread I will try it again. If people start posting off-topic again, I won't hesitate to close it again.
One for @Kreeate - where did you get your name from and why did you move to Sweden?
Ah... had to dig into my fading memories for this one...
I wrote an essay for English class when I was 16 and the protagonist of the essay was named Kreeate. ( I know the name probably existed before then, but when I was 16, the Internet didn't exist in my world )
It was about an entity that assumed the position of a God ( think the Genesis scenario ) and the trials and tribulations this entity had with regards to creating a universe, a world and ultimately a species of living, thinking, intelligent beings, then having to deal with their rebellion. I know it sounds extremely vain, but I was 16 and wanted to write a story from the perspective of God. ( I'm not religious, just for the record )
The name "Kreeate" kind of stuck with me, mainly because English is not my native language and I scored pretty well in that essay. I've not used the name all that much since then but when I registered with RZ in 2010 and I had to come up with a username, that was the name that jumped out at me... so to speak :P
As for moving to Sweden... long story, lol...
I'll make it short though.
I had resigned at my previous company ( back in South Africa ) and was about to go work for another company as a contractor. Before my notice period was over, a manager of my company asked if I would consider a position in Sweden. After some visits to beautiful Sverige, ( Swedish name for Sweden xD ) and much negotiations, I took the offer and here I am.
Same company... different country :thumbup:
Sorry some how missed these mentions yesterday, and thread was closed when I came on anyway... but since I'm here...
I love the Sims. Back when sims came out, whatever many years ago, I played it a whole bunch. I picked it up again some years later, I heard that there was a Sims Online. So I googled for Sims Online and found this site called There.com. Which was a cartoonish avatar world you ran around and played in and stuff (similar to Second Life in some ways). I was there for a couple years at least, I did designs, I played paintball, I had a house, and I loved to build and explore in that game.
Anyway... there was a guy I met... and we started playing other games together (Counter Strike, PlanetSide, MapleStory, and I can't even remember) - we bounced from game to game and played a little of this and a little of that. I didn't care for that.
Eventually, we ended up on a private Lineage 2 server named 'kittenkatklub' - my first real MMORPG (Because I don't believe Maplestory counts) -
Well I stayed on that server, even after a wipe (not long after I started) the guy who brought me went on, and I stayed and made new friends.
Eventually I became GM, because I loved the server so much, I got to know the server owner. He was a pretty well known Lineage 2 dev (Evill33t) and he was on Ragezone forum, he talked with Mental and Triumph or something and worked out something where his server became the official Ragezone Lineage 2 server - which wasn't the first RZL2.
So I was told to 'go make an account so we can mod you' - and I did. So I started out as a moderator of the RZL2 section.
Well, I don't exactly know. I mean, I never set out to be a Super. I started branching out from my little RZL2 section and exploring Ragezone. I wanted to get to know the community. The people I got to know, I really liked, it seemed like a good place to be.
One day, some moderator in the Habbo section was 'hacked' or went crazy or something, anyway, the user of the mod account was editing all the threads there posting Lemon Party. Anyway, I was online and trying to get someone's attention to it, and I ended up being modded there to help clean it up. So I started working in Habbo, I had no idea what Habbo was at all, never heard of it at all. But yeah, I modded the shizzle out of that section. I figured out pretty quick to 'walk softly and carry a big stick' I am not lying when I say there are some days I gave out more than 100 warnings or infractions. So I think I got noticed because I made a difference. But I'm not a young kid. I wrote clear infractions, I didn't involve my personal feelings, etc. (was easy really, because I didn't know what Habbo was, so I certainly didn't take sides, because I didn't care what the sides were!)
Eventually they gave me mod in other places. I was moderator in all of the Evo sections for a while. (This was before the days of Supervisor), and some people were pissed off because no one knew who I was. They thought it made a big difference if the moderator was well known. I'm sure some people are still pissed about it. (But I'm still here.)
Anyway the Super staff voted on it, and I was made a Super Mod, it was a complete surprise to me. I can't even describe what an honor it was to be voted in by so many people I respected. (Of course more people were pissed about that.) Mental took it away because he didn't know me, but gave it back in just over a month. I've been here every since. It pissed a lot of people off at the time, but many of them have come and gone, and I'm still here.
PS (as if I haven't talked enough): I feel privileged to have worked with some of the most awesome Moderators / Supervisors and especially Super Mods ever, including the great legend Akaruz.
Fun fact - @Madison gave me my first infraction :love:
@Wreckless - how come that you are so religious, are you raised like that? Not sure if this question is a bit too private for you, just curious ;)
Also, can you give a large version of your avatar?
@Kreeate
Why are you kind? :)
Not sure what you mean here... but I'll have a stab at it anyway...
I'm kind to all my fellow human beings because of the morals and values my parents taught me.
Over and above that, I employ common sense and logic and as such, I usually reach the conclusion that being kind to other people is the right thing to do.
We all have the power of choice. Our choices determine whether we are perceived as being kind or cruel. It's all up to the individual.
@Not4You how often do you go to the gym a week o.o
I was raised as a Catholic, but I've begun to see things differently and on my own as I grew older. I'm no Saint, but I start to see the errors in my ways and I believe in Christianity for my own purposes and not my parents' purposes. I believe in Christianity because I have studied parts of other religions. In a way, I don't solely believe in Christianity, I believe in most major religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), but I choose to subscribe to Christianity and Catholicisim since I was raised that way.
Anyway, here's my avatar enlarged: (It's the original image. I took the background color out, but it looks stupid if I do that when it's enlarged)

@Red Alert
I've noticed you change your name a lot? Why? Is it because you haven't quite found a username that suits you yet?
That's a really good question, to be honest! Funny fact to start with, MentaL is not very happy with it as far as I understand, lol. But as of yet I don't see any reason why not to do it.
Spoiler:
Anyways, this is something I used to do a lot, and still do. Normally I do have 1 'permanent' username, but then I find something else I prefer, and take on that name. It's just that I always change my mind. Here's a username change log from an old forum I used to moderate:Spoiler:
You'll probably see a lot of names are from TV/Game characters! Red Alert actually is both a game name, and the name of the new song from the hardstyle DJ Zatox. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwIoOl6YTkc (You'll probably notice where I got my avatar from too, lol). My title ("Exitus acta probat.") comes from something entirely different.
That's just a small part. I see it more as 'evolving' myself. My starting usernames don't really fit me now, and I'm always on the look for a username that fits me. Now I have this subscription, I can change my name whenever I want! But probably when I can't anymore, I'll just stick with Wessel.
That's interesting! I prefer a few select usernames, but Wreckless has really stuck to me and I like it, so I've been using it in other places too. For example, my Gamertag on Xbox Live is now WrecklessRZ (Wreckless is taken. :*:), and as you can see I put RZ for RaGEZONE!
@MentaL
How did you end up choosing the username "MentaL" for your forum? And why the name RaGEZONE?
Feel free to crucify me if this question had already been answered elsewhere...
Alternatively... kindly link me to the answers please.
@Kreeate how did you come up with your name?
O.o
I describe it here : http://forum.ragezone.com/f10/staff-...4/#post7968734
