    Assembly 2006

Assembly is the biggest demoscene party in Finland, this time held 3rd through 6th August. That's right, I've been here since this Thursday and it's my 6th or 7th time here, I've lost count. If you want to know more browse to Assembly.org.

Anyways, just now I saw 64k intro compo. It's just friggin amazing what these guys can fit into only 64 kilobytes. All compo entries in all categories (music, gfx, demos, game dev) can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.assembly.org/asm06/. There's an entry everyone must see. Here's the direct link to this particular demo: ftp://ftp.assembly.org/asm06/64k/dea..._fairlight.zip

Many categories this year were somewhat lame and hardly worth a look, but 64k amazes me every year (exluding the previous one) and I very much recommend anyone with even a slight interest to see what those guys had created.

PS. Any of you noobs (though unlikely) around here, give me a shout and I'll spank you IRL for once.

Well most come by just to have some good time, meet up with friends they've only met before in their gaming clans online, download big stuff (~10MB connection is nice) and most importantly, play. (I know, why not just play home ) In fact it's pathetic how some people have trouble shutting down their screens for the while compos are on, after all those are the core of Assembly. I find myself more and more bored here every year but somehow I just have to get here every time.

There are like.. not sure, 2000 computer places here and 5000 visitors during the long weekend.

edit: the link to this amazing 64k intro is up.

See Dead Ringer by Fairlight, you don't want it to end. :D

The final, unlimited, platform-free demo compo will begin in 8 minutes and takes a couple of hours in total, let's hope there aren't many boring demos to be shown.
