It's like a defense mechanism, most likely. You get hurt a few times (or just once) or don't want to be hurt (and it's similiar to a phobia), and when you hear horror stories about how all/most guys are creeps you tend to want to avoid them.
And then there are those that are just naturally attracted to the same sex.
Or it's just the begining of some type of human evolution... *shrugs*
Those would be my guesses at least.
