I would recommend NameCheap as well in terms of price, features, and support. Besides, GoDaddy does not need your business :) They are earning enough from their crappy ads all over your parked domains. That's right.

Do not get confuse with Name.com however, their service is going downhill in my opinion - I have been given one fo the 'shittiest' support ever that took a good 4 days for them to reply. Interestingly too, their Domain CP is pretty bugged up and now they decide to charge for Private WHOIS alongside the price increase :) GOOD JOB FAGS.

If you can find a reliable and cheap NetEarthOne (NEO) reseller, do go for them. NEO is one of the best registrar I have found so far. Chris and his support team are simply fantastic! There are frequent promotions for a variety of domains as well. Although the control panel may not seem very 'fanciful' it is packed with features and tools that you would most likely require.

I would also recommend eNom (majority of commercial websites are from eNom too - eNom is extremely professional in terms of their service and support). You can also take a look at 1&1 since I have heard reasonable amounts of good reviews from them.

You should also take a look at Netfirms (they provide FREE WHOIS Privacy if I'm not wrong)

Name.com is my personal choice. Free DNS, and DNS updates are instant.

I'd have to say Godaddy,
Seems the most decent.

NameCheap = .INFO & .COM ; Free WhoIS protect
Moniker = .NET (Cheap too) ; WhoIS protect is not free.

I own at least a dozen NameCheap domains, they provide Live chat as support along with email (I've never had a problem so I never actually had to e-mail or talk to em via live chat).

Moniker = I've never had a problem with them, whatsoever.

Remote SQL connections have to do with:
-Your Webhost
-Your VPS/Dedicated Server/Wherever the database is located.

Well, that is unless your pointing out on their web hosting services - though it's irrelevant to the current topic.

I own 3 hostings and 5 domains with godaddy, they work awesome. Coupons are always a plus (search for godaddy coupons, some are even upto 25%) but their support fails to respond quick enough. For example we host JamaikaMu - - Estamos Para Quedarnos! there (this is no spam you noobs, the site is on spanish xD) and from time to time the website wont load. We send a ticket and when they answer back its always "your site works properly!". OFC it does, downtime was 3 hs long and you answered 7 hours later! (the downtime usually happens with 500+ users online using the website, most of the times 1500 users can be browsing with no problems.)

Other than that godaddy is perfect.

NOTICE: Be careful with this. Godaddy WILL NOT TELL YOU that you are close to using all your bandwidth. They will not mail you, panel won't tell you. The only way to know is to log in to their website and check manually. Once I updated client on my server and ended up paying 160usd extra for a few gb over the limit. Now we have unlimited bandwidth and space but it was so sad to pay 160usd for some gay gb.

I recommend only buying domains with GoDaddy. If you want good hosting go with HostGator. I've had them for three years, and I have never had problem with them, and I host a few rather large sites with them on the basic $10 hosting package, and they don't mind. So yah, I'd only use GoDaddy for domains, and not for hosting.

EDIT:
Here's my bandwidth for one of my sites this month. It may be a lot of bandwidth or not compared to how much you use.
