The highest RPM possible is 15K, usually SCSI type drives, not IDE that we mostly have.

Now they got Serial-ATA drives which go beyond 10K RPM, but have 150MB per second transfers, which means windows loads super quick, etc......

my laptop drive is only 5400 rpm, which is amazing for the size, but 7200 are availiable and only hitachi makes them, but at $300 is too much........

then i might have 6000 some, like i said im not sure. But with the other specs you can pretty much asume its not a lower normal rpm

(edit: also i dont think its 7200 cus its not by hitachi and i know i didnt pay 300 for the 1st hd and then even more for the 2nd. )

The 7200 hitachi was for laptops only, thus costs $300 since notebook stuff is very pricey.

IBM, Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, etc all make 7200 for desktops, so you might have one of those names, which all are great. For a 60GB or 80GB, costs about $100 or less....

Only notebook ones costs more because of technology and shit...
