The stores do this because often 40% of their revenue comes from sales that go on during the Christmas shopping torrent that lashes its great whip across the states.
I'm willing to bet that stores like Circuit City are either going to have everything very cheap or they are not going to have much inventory(Circuit City is filing for bankruptcy because they're idiots) and even stores like Best Buy are going to cut prices quite a bit because the economy isn't exactly stable at the moment.
I did not watch the video but I assume it shows people in a rush to buy everything that they can. Makes sense. You want something that hundreds of other people want and you assume you're the only one that is too poor to afford it at regular price...there will be stampedes to join in on.
I don't join in though as most of the gifts I get are cheap and priceless at the same time. Like a mug that says "O' Happy Day" or a cat with a missing eye dressed like a pirate.
Cheap and priceless.
Sometimes I do pay for the nicer things though.

Lol @ Ron. Did you know they fired the employees that actually knew about their products because they thought it would be a good idea so they could hire people off the streets, pay them lower wages and pocket more money in the end.

On a side note I thought it was "BLACK" Friday(what do people think the economy is being racist?) because prices are so low, not because it's at night...
Think of prices as a hole in the yard. When you dig quite far it becomes void of light. Crawl into that hole and it's black. Prices are at the bottom of that hole hence it's black friday.
