Breaking Point - Stress & study

Well, i am now up to the last part of my study, Doing my 2 diploma's, Systems administration & network administration - Which i should finish on independence day (July 4th). However with the major exam coming up, my stress levels have hit an all new high and make situations i would normally deal with easily, a problem.

The other day whilst at college (Known as T.A.F.E here in Australia) one of the guys in the class would not stop interrupting the lecturer to give his unwanted input, well i had just had enough of his shit, so i left to go for a walk to calm down, then i started seeing small stars and realized i was shaking! Sweet jesus!

But worse of all is my current problems with my JAW, because i have TMJ disorder, which is causing constant pain when sleeping (if i am not taking my medication, which is addictive.)

Sigh, i just don't know how to keep myself stress free...

Anyone else here been on the end of their swords edge lately?

    Constantly tbh.

I think I couldn't understand more perfectly how you felt in that moment.
Everyone experiences stress in their lives, brought on by different factors.
That is normal. Not being sure how to deal with it is normal too, especially if you don't experience it often.

I think taking a walk was the perfect situation. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just step out of the situation. The problem I often have is I don't realize how stressed out I am until too far into the situation.

I have an Anxiety Disorder, and what you described sounds a whole lot like the panic attacks I have. I start shaking, I can't really think, I get really irritable, I tense up (yes they are painful too) and sometimes I can't walk or really move.

To be perfectly honest, I would say to you the following: If this is just normal stress caused by taking tests etc.. then don't worry, if this stress is ongoing for weeks or months please talk to someone, your doctor, or something. Maybe its a side effect of the drugs you are on?

Anyway if you determine this is just situational anxiety (because of the test)
Then perhaps the following will help:

    Approach the exam with confidence:
Use whatever strategies you can to personalize success: visualization, logic, talking to your self, practice, team work, journaling, etc.
View the exam as an opportunity to show how much you've studied and to receive a reward for the studying you've done
    Be prepared!
Learn your material thoroughly and organize what materials you will need for the test. Use a checklist
Choose a comfortable location for taking the test
with good lighting and minimal distractions
    Allow yourself plenty of time,
especially to do things you need to do before the test and still get there a little early
Avoid thinking you need to cram just before

I know those things always helped me.

you're 13, that is an entirely different "stress" you feel, its the stress of having ot do work for once.

Re: Breaking Point - Stress & study

I got in a similar situation a couple months ago while trying to keep up with a full time job plus university (something similar to network administration btw) my boss was this fucking crazy asshole jap and all that existed in his life was work. I'd leave home at 6 o'clock and be back only by midnight...

What ended up happening is that I was so fucked up from sleep deprivation, tiredness and stress that one day while walking my way home I threw up and I passed out on the sidewalk and ended up on a hospital. It was a funny thing you know (by the time I didn't find it particularly funny) but you perceive things so damn hard just to end fucking yourself up and actually going way slower.

The doctor at the time said I slept for something like 30 hours straight. I think I've never been happier to be in a hospital that when I woke up rested with some hot nurse giving me "Good evening" and bringing me food. Damn.

So I quit the job and actually got a better one.

What I can tell is that if you're going too fast, you're very likely to crash. You know man, sleep enough, eat well and don't stop living your life, stay close to the ones you love, have some beer, just chill out, that stuff. If the test is stressing you out and you're already doing your best (which it seems) what the fuck else do you want to do?

    Just take it easy.

Well uh, that's my two cents about it.

Re: Breaking Point - Stress & study

I had a similar problem with my IB exams so I just started smoking weed and it helps a lot. I have one last exam and it's some easy shit so essentially all the stress I had earlier is gone.

Turns out the exams were really easy anyways so I just breezed through em whilst toking up =D
Course I'm still in high school, but I am on a 3 diploma system technically (not like it matters too much). Got my metal for graduating distinguished yesterday.
Not sure how you want to approach your issue but this really worked for me.
