    can anyone suggest a decent weight gain suppliment

    ok, as i know a few of the ragezoners know a thing or two about this subject, i thought id ask for suggestions for a decent weight gain supplement for everyday training etc...

    currently i cycle 12 miles a day, do quite a few push ups etc (10 sets of 10 about 100 or more) and im also on the weights like mad!! but my metabolism is so damn high that i struggle to gain any sort of weight... currently im at a kind of healthy 9 and a half stone, for a 6'1 guy thats a tad on the low side but im happy with it (should be on the 11 stone mark though) i eat like mad (healthy eating not the old mac d's etc) i know i eat more then 2500 calories per day, id say around 3-4k which is stupid, nether the less im still on the 9 and a half mark, tuna is my best friend but i think he doesnt like my muscles cause i eat too much protein with little gain.. only alternative i can think of is some sort of weight gain supplement, googled it and 1000 things came up and im just bewildered, so i thought id ask you lot what you take??

    need something thats been tried and tested, cause even when i wasnt doing all this training and just sitting on my arse everyday such as last year i still did not manage to gain any sort of weight

    sorry for the long ass post hope someone can help me out...

    Protein is what your body needs to build muscle.

    The US Army tells people to drink a lot of Slim Fast....you'd think that would kinda defeat the purpose, but there is a lot of protein in it. Although there are many foods/shakes/pills for that also. So you don't need a "weight gain" pill, just more protein.

    Exy is the pro at this topic, so I'd wait for his reply before doing anything.

    yea i know i was waiting on exy to reply, cause he's the fitness guru of the world that is known as ragezone!!!

    i eat more then enough protein trust me that aint the problem.

    Alright then, you're a Londoner, I'm sure Holland & Barrett have plenty of protein suppliments and in-store clerks will give you advice on which ones would benefit you the most.

    Well if you want to gain weight the healthy way, I recommend eating High Fats foods that are healthy for you like Avocados, Macadamia nuts, Nuts (unsalted), Salmon and any kind of fish, Raisins, Coock everything with Olive oil.
    There's a plenty of list with high fats that are healthy for you. look them up.

    Anyway back to topic, Just because you have a high metabolism, doesnt mean the food that you consume doesnt affect you. Be careful and dont eat too many high fat/sweet unhealthy food cause that can give nasty disease like Diabetes and can destroy you liver!

    u wanna be doing several things mate

    you wanna really increase your intake of carbs and protein

    stick to your workout routines provided they are difficult, particularly with the weights as these will help you put on the most mass compared to the biking and pushups etc, the workouts must always be difficult otherwise your body has no need to build the extra muscle

    if i was to recommend a product i would say go with the CNP Pro - Recover, great protein shake, mixes well and tastes fucking great. Really nice mix of protein and carbs. The carbs are important as your body uses them more effeciently for energy. protein can be used for energy but it is much better for recovery, that is why u need to make sure you have both.

    Eating enough protein usually is the problem! Think about where your food is coming from, if you didnt just kill it or harvest it yourself then it is not fresh! If it is not fresh then it has had time for the nutritional value to litterally die out.

    Say a tin of tuna says it has 19 grams of protein, by the time it gets to you it wont have, it could have anything below that, this is why protein powders/shakes/mixes are such a gosend when training

    keep in mind your genetics will limit just how much new muscle you can put on in any space of time

    train harder
    eat more protein
    eat more carbs
    be sure to sleep enough

    not saying that my workout has no effects, cause it has been my legs are more muscular then they were before, muscle wise im happy, its just weight wise i feel 9 and a half stone is a tad low, could be better, not bothered im healthy and i like it..

    anyone else got any suggestions????

    id say take your intake of protein to 150 grams a day for your body weight, about a gram per pound of body weight is good, it wont hurt to get some extra in there, any you dont use will just pass through into your urine anyway

    you definately need to sleep more, about 8 solid hours is what your body needs, after all your body repairs the most during sleep so it really is essential

    how much water do you drink? try to drink 3-4 litres a day minimum

    i drink around that per day, my usual each day is a pint of milk (blue top) say around 2 liters+ of water (the sun has been killing me during the bike rides :P) + the old nurishments so yea i think its around that mark, on my days off i tend to get around the 8 hr mark of sleep, but if ive got to work, then its a balance between mates and work, and my mates seem to win most times hence the lack of sleep , also could you check that link to see if thats the right product, might try holland and barrats also see what they could suggest to me.

    higher protein intake from things like pulses, cheese and obviously meat. just make sure to balance your diet and not miss out on vitamins and whatnot.

    Some basics on building muscle:

    1.- 5 foods/day. Eat each 3 hours. Doing regular sport n aiming 4 weight gain 3.5-4k calories/day. 1ml water per calorie burnt, that makes 4 liters/day.

    Quality carbs: whiteoats (normal cereals have too much added sugar n we dont want that), fruit, pulses, macaroni, savage or integral rice, anything integral is usually better.

    Quality Proteins: eggs, tuna, chicken , soja, vegetables, 0% fat milk or curd. Go away from pig.

    Quality fat: olive oil, fish, nuts.

    At the end of ur day u should eat 30% protein , 55% carbs, 15% fat. Reduce carb intake past 15:00. U want high quality fat specially on breackfast n dinner.

    2.- When gaining weight u dont want aerobics. So stop de cycle thing if u can. Think any exercise u do u r destroying fiber, so instead of so many push ups, try explosive push ups or any other version. Harder work/less reps. 1 muscle/day, 4-5 days/week. When u r looking to get more muscle in less time put more work in big muscles: chest, back, shoulders n legs.

    3.-Supplements; Ill post in order so u know wot to pick first:

    100% Whey Protein Optimum Nutrition (Bst protein,u cant live without this from now on)

    BSN CellMass (Best creatine, includes carbs 4 better absortion n bigger grow effect)

    BSN NO-Xplode ( Best nitric oxide product, nearly instant results in few days, u wont believe how big u will get with it until u c it by urself. Its not recommended for beginners, so try the creatine 1st . Trust me when i say u will thank me 4 this 1)

    Scivation Xtend (Best BCAAs+L-Glutamine+Citrulline Malate, this helps 4 faster recovery, less muscle destroyed in your trainings n stops catabolism )

    Universal Animal Pak ( Best multi-vitamin. Vitamins r basic n this should be at the top tho its expensive n wont feel a bid diff in ur actual condition. If u mind about the price or having to take so many capsules, u can go for "Now Foods-Adam" )

    If u need any more help about wot to eat/when eat each thing, exercises, or how much/when take of any supplement just ask ^_^

    excellent post tilk mate, the only thing id change is the multi vits, your body finds it difficult to take full advantage of them all at once, i find i get much much better results taking vitamin suppliments for different things at varying times of day
